New Doomsday teaser leak sets up Doom vs. Reed Richards confrontation and more

As we get closer to the release of Doomsday, more and more leaks about upcoming trailers and the film itself are being circulated online. One such leak suggests that we will get to see more of Reed Richards confronting Doom in an upcoming teaser.

Moreover, there are also fan theories that suggest that we don't have to wait till the release of Avengers Endgame: Encore to find the connection between Doomsday and Avengers: Endgame (2019). The latest fan theory claims that Avengers: Endgame's 55-second scene of Steve Rogers going back in time and reuniting with Peggy Carter is what will lead to the destruction in Doomsday.

Avengers: Doomsday leaks hint at an extension of the Reed and Doom confrontation

An already released special look at Doomsday revealed that a confrontation between Reed Richards and Victor Von Doom is going to happen. In the clip, we saw Reed ask Doom:

"Victor did you do this? Answer me Victor! Did you do this?"

But we don't see Victor, aka Doom, answer Reed. He just looks at Reed, and there's something akin to slight regret visible in his eyes. A leak about an upcoming teaser has been circulating on the internet that claims that Victor will ask Reed to forgive him. The leak claims that we will see Doom say:

“I hope someday you will forgive me."

If this leak turns out to be true, it will suggest a number of things. It will confirm that Doom will do something he cannot come back from, something that will undoubtedly either kill multiple heroes or destroy the multiverse, or both. Moreover, Doom might harm or take advantage of Franklin Richards.

In the comics, Doom has repeatedly tried to use Franklin for his god-like powers. In one of the comics, Doom banished a young Franklin directly to Hell, which deeply traumatized the boy. He was finally rescued by Ben Grimm. In another issue, Secret Wars (2015), after the multiverse collapsed, Doom used the stolen power of the Beyonders to create the planet Battleworld.

In this reality, Doom rewrote history so that he was the supreme ruler of Battleworld, Sue Storm was his queen, and both Franklin and his sister Valeria were raised to believe Doom was their actual father. Thus, in the comics, Doom has quite the history of doing things Reed would hate him for.

The leak suggests that Doom might not just kill one or two heroes but might do something that will make him come face-to-face with Reed. But even in that moment, he will ask forgiveness, which makes one wonder how bad of an atrocity we will see him commit.

How does the 55-second clip of Steve Rogers and Peggy connect to Doomsday?

Doctor Doom has already mentioned in a trailer that the Avengers are living stolen lives. Doomsday theories by fans thus suggest that in the trailers, Doom is referring to the fact that the Avengers went back in time and changed what happened to bring back people from the dead. Steve Rogers, on the other hand, also lived a complete life with Peggy Carter by travelling back in time.

Steve wasn't allowed to return to Peggy at the end of Captain America: The First Avenger because his plane crashed into the Arctic ice, and he remained there, frozen for almost 70 years. Thus, at the end of Avengers: Endgame, after he went back in time to return the infinity stones to their original time, he decided to stay in 1949 and live out a complete life with Peggy.

Many fan theories suggest that Steve and Peggy lived out their lives in a hidden timeline. That inevitably messed with the main timeline and created an alternate branching timeline. A new theory suggests that the connection between Endgame and the upcoming film lies in the 55-second scene of Steve Rogers going back in time to Peggy.

At the end of Endgame, we saw a glimpse of Steve in 1949, dancing with Peggy in their house and sharing the kiss. Doomsday's teaser trailers have revealed that the couple continued living in that house and then had a child together. Steve is also confirmed to be returning for Doomsday. However, the new theory suggests that it is exactly that 55-second scene that connects to Doomsday.

There are a few ways the scene can be connected to the upcoming film. Fan theories suggest that Steve living out his life in a branched-out timeline is what created the first collision of universes, which Doom wanted to stop. However, in his attempt to do so, an experiment went rogue, killing his family and leaving him with scars.

The upcoming film might also reveal that Steve did something during his time in the branched timeline, which led to him unknowingly hurting Doom's family. That can also be one of the reasons Doom is angry that the Avengers have lived lives they shouldn't have.

So far, both the leak and fan theory are yet to be confirmed. They will be confirmed if we see an upcoming teaser showing Doom asking Reed for forgiveness and if there's a scene in Avengers Endgame: Encore that elaborates on the 55-second scene of Steve Rogers and Peggy Carter.

Avengers: Doomsday will be released in theaters on December 18, 2026.
