Jason Momoa has shared his thoughts on playing Blanka in the upcoming live-action movie titled Street Fighter, scheduled to release on October 16.
The actor, famous for Aquaman, Dune, and Supergirl, had a lot to say about taking on the role of the green-skinned fighter. In the talks with Extra TV, Momoa said that he had worked with Cale and Mary on Dune and trusted them after working together on Minecraft. When he heard about Street Fighter, he told them he wanted to play Blanka.
The actor added:
"So it was like the easiest job I got but also kind of the scariest."
Blanka is one of the characters in the Street Fighter video game series. His real name is Jimmy, and he stands out because of his green skin and wild look, and he can generate electricity. But there is more to him than his appearance, as Blanka also has a friendly side.

Speaking of the scariest part of playing Blanka in Street Fighter, Jason Momoa told Extra TV that he doesn't know how to play Blanka. Describing his character, he said that Blanka is a big beast, adding that he wants to bring a lot of heart to the character and hopes people enjoy his take on Blanka, though he admitted that he is a little scared.
When asked if he practiced grunting in front of the mirror to get into character, Momoa said Blanka's personality was already clear. So, he tried to bring something different to the role, hoping people would like it. He added that people would either love his take on Blanka or hate it.
Momoa has been a longtime fan of the video game. In past interviews, he has shared that it was his favorite video game growing up, and getting the chance to play Blanka in the upcoming movie is something he is genuinely happy about. In an interview with Men's Journal, Momoa said he was excited about his upcoming roles in Dune 3, Supergirl, and Street Fighter, sharing that he was now playing characters his 13-year-old self would have loved to play, making this an exciting time for him.
During the same interview with Men's Journal, Momoa also explained why he wanted to play Blanka. He shared that his mother didn't allow him to play video games growing up, so he would visit friends' houses or arcades to play Street Fighter. His love for the game stayed with him, and he even bought an arcade machine for the game for his home later in life.
In the promos, Momoa can be seen with green skin, wild red hair, and orange pants as he steps into Blanka's look. He is also seen with sharp teeth, helping him look more like the wild fighter from the game.
