What happened in January 2023?

The Fox Nation documentary revisits the Lindsay Clancy case, a nurse and wife of Patrick Clancy. Together, the couple shared two sons and a daughter, Dawson, Callan, and Cora. On the evening of January 24, 2023, Lindsay asked her husband, Patrick, to go to the pharmacy for her daughter's meds and pick up takeout. After he went out, she killed her three children and tried committing suicide.

When Patrick returned home after an hour, he found all three of his children motionless and strangled. He started feeling distressed after finding blood and a knife. The children were declared dead after they were taken to the hospital. According to reports, she used exercise bands for the killings. She also had serious injuries and told Patrick she had tried to take her own life.

As per the lawsuit, Lindsay said she heard voices in her head on the day she killed her three children. The lawsuit claimed that the voices told her to kill them before taking her own life.

What happened afterwards?

Lindsay was charged with three counts of murder, along with additional charges, including strangulation and assault with a dangerous weapon. It was also reported that Lindsay was dealing with mental health problems after the birth of her children.

According to Patrick, she received psychiatric treatment and was prescribed many medications. However, her condition didn't improve much. Lindsay's condition reportedly got worse by November 2022. This was two months before she killed her children, which she even shared with her husband. According to Patrick's statements, doctors believed Lindsay's thoughts were not an immediate risk. This was because she had not made any plans to act on them.

Lindsay was also reportedly treated at McLean Hospital in the same month she killed her children. And according to Patrick, she seemed to be improving. The couple sued the healthcare providers over her mental health treatment after childbirth. As reported by the Associated Press, the lawsuit stated that Lindsay received medical help many times, followed her doctors' advice, and told them that her condition was getting worse despite treatment.

As reported by People, the lawsuit claimed that the children might still be alive if Lindsay had received proper medical care.

Details on the Lindsay Clancy trial

The jury selection in Lindsay Clancy's trial reportedly started on July 20. The affidavit stated that investigators found Lindsay used her phone and journal to record her thoughts, research ways to take life, and track her medication.

According to the prosecutors, Lindsay planned the murders of her three children and was completely aware of her actions at the time of killing. However, Lindsay's lawyer argued that she was suffering from mental health issues after childbirth. Her lawyer added that her condition and medication problems affected her actions.

According to CT Insider, a judge has dropped the strangulation charges. Her trial is expected to last for six weeks, starting with the opening statements on July 27.
