Dennis Quaid opened up about his low-key Tennessee life while speaking to Fox News Digital on the red carpet at CMA Fest. There, he disclosed that he left the bustle of Los Angeles six years ago and moved to Nashville because he needed more room to breathe. The actor said,

"I love to be around the house here. You get a lot of land and space, but you’re still in an urban environment. I’ve made some really good friends here to spend time with. It’s important and a great place to raise a family."

He first moved to L.A. in 1974 to pursue his dreams of becoming an actor. In the early 1980s, his career took off after he secured leading roles in films like The Big Easy, The Right Stuff, and Innerspace. These films helped him to become a major star.

He has seen the entertainment industry undergo a major change after spending decades working in Hollywood. He remembered a time when actors would gather in casting offices for auditions, often sitting beside other performers who were competing for the same role.

Dennis Quaid's reasons for leaving Los Angeles

Dennis Quaid spent many years living in Los Angeles before he and his wife decided to move to Nashville, also known as Music City. According to Entertainment, he raised his kids in the California town, and later he decided to move to Tennessee with Laura because he believed that L.A. had lost its charm.

He added that the 2025 wildfires caused many people to leave the West Coast because the disaster exposed problems that should have been fixed by now but were ignored. He said,

"People are angry and half angry, and they're half kind of feeling like giving up, to tell you the truth. It used to be such a fantastic town. It was. It was a great community, too. And something's happened. People need to be inspired there."

The actor further mentioned that L.A. used to be a wonderful city and remembered that the 1990s were a good time. He explained that the city has declined recently and residents pay taxes without receiving proper services.
