Mackenzie Shirilla drew renewed public interest after the release of Netflix's true crime documentary, The Crash. She now found herself amid another fresh controversy. The convicted killer was recently under review by the Ohio prison authorities after her glam-up selfie appeared on social media. However, as per TMZ, Shirilla will not face any charges for it.

The viral glam picture was posted on her Instagram account, where she's seen wearing a blue full-sleeved outfit with a soft glam makeup look and pouty lips. The post asked the viewers to sign and share a fair trial petition. It further read,

"Mackenzie is trying to do better every day and holding on to hope. Her post-conviction relief was denied due to a deadline technicality. The decision has nothing to do with the contents of it; it was unable to be reviewed."

As per the media outlet, Shirilla sent a dolled-up photo from Ohio Reformatory for Women to her family members. Apparently, she used a tablet called ViaPeth, which is used by the inmates to connect to their family members.

Here's more about it.

Mackenzie Shirilla will not face charges for clicking the viral glammed-up picture from the prison. JoEllen Smith, the chief spokesperson of the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction, said that the authorities reviewed the matter and found out that Mackenzie Shirilla did not post the picture herself. As per Smith, incarnated individuals cannot access social media platforms on the ViaPath tablets.

Smith further noted that the prisoners are allowed to send pictures to their family members using the ViaPath tablets. Thus, Mackenzie Shirilla did not break any prison regulations.

Dominic Russo's sister, Cristine, however, slammed Shirilla for such selfies from the prison. In an interview with TMZ Live, she said that Mackenzie has no guilt and is enjoying her time in prison even after killing Dominic, and that is heartbreaking. She further encouraged others to raise their voices, and that would compel Ohio prison authorities to take action.

Shirilla was convicted of a total of 12 felony charges in 2023. This includes two counts of aggravated vehicular homicide, four counts of murder, and four counts of felonious assault, one count of drug possession, and one count of criminal tools possession each. She was sentenced to two concurrent sentences of 15 years to life in prison. Her first parole hearing is scheduled for September 2037.
