For 75 weeks (since August 17, 2025), the official X account for The Fantastic Four: First Step has religiously posted the same clip from the movie daily, where Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic (Pedro Pascal) says the family has dinner every Sunday at 7. While fans were initially confused, it was speculated that this online activity is in preparation for the Avengers: Doomsday trailer, the upcoming and highly-anticipated 39th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, scheduled to release on December 18.

Eager fans have been eyeing the X account in hopes of getting a hint of Doctor Doom's arrival but to no avail. The X account for The Fantastic Four: First Step continued posting the same dinner clip from the movie until Marvel crashed it in the best way possible, hinting that the trailer might finally be on the horizon.

MCU might unveil the Avengers: Doomsday trailer soon

Eagle-eyed fans were quick to notice that the recent Reed Richards clip, posted on X, is interrupted by a sweet tease. As usual, Reed announces the team dinner at 7 but the clip suddenly goes black. Sue Storm/ Invisible Woman (Vanessa Kirby) takes over as she asks her husband:

"How long do we have?"

To this, Reed replies:

''Not long.''

While fans are questioning the new material in the clip, it is suspected that the MCU is gearing up for the first Avengers: Doomsday trailer. Speculation has also intensified, with fans believing the newly released audio is from the upcoming film, as both Pedro Pascal and Vanessa Kirby are set to reprise their respective roles in the MCU film.

The clip also ties in with Marvel Studios' return to San Diego Comic-Con 2026, with their hour-long Hall H panel scheduled to run from 8:30 to 9:30 pm.

Additionally, the Fandango app has added a 'Watch trailer' button for Avengers: Doomsday, fueling the speculation and rumours. Since the app only adds this button when a trailer is expected, fans might be in for a surprise soon. Online chatter also suggests that the MCU could unveil the Doomsday trailer before the SDCC panel, reserving the crucial hour for other announcements, likely on projects like Secret Wars, the X-Men reboot and Daredevil: Born Again Season 3.

What is Avengers: Doomsday about?

The official synopsis for the upcoming film reads as follows:

''Fourteen months after the events of Thunderbolts*, groups of heroes from three different universes—the Avengers, Wakandans, and New Avengers from Earth-616; the Fantastic Four from Earth-828; and the "original" X-Men from a separate universe—converge to face the existential threat of Doctor Doom.''

The movie will mark the return of superheroes from three different universes as they unite to fight against Doctor Doom, the despotic ruler of the Eastern European nation of Latveria.

In addition to Robert Downey Jr., the film stars Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Paul Rudd, Florence Pugh, Anthony Mackie, Channing Tatum, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, James Marsden, Simu Liu, Tom Hiddleston, Sebastian Stan and many more.

Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to arrive in US theatres on December 18. Its sequel, titled Avengers: Secret Wars, is set to be released on December 17, 2027.
