Marvel Dimensions turns Thanos into a heroic 'Titanson' in an alternate In-Verse reality

Marvel fans! Get ready for a surprise. Marvel Comics has dropped a new codename for Thanos, and it transforms him into a superhero, and fans have no idea how to process it. The recent Marvel Dimensions, a new graphic novel from Abrams ComicArts and Marvel as a part of the Marvel Arts Line, delves into the new reality called In-Verse.

In this alternate reality, things happen opposite of Earth-616, where villains become heroes, and heroes become villains. It is created by Jason Millet, Josh Johnson, Alex Ross, and Ariana Maher. Thanos, Marvel's popular antagonist, is in this reality turned into the heroic Titanson.

Marvel Dimensions: How does Thanos become the heroic Titanson?

In Marvel Dimensions, the story delves into an alternate reality, and it's the opposite of Earth-616. In this reality called In-Verse, Marvel's villains are turned into superheroes. Thanos, who debuted in 1973, was a product of a failed cosmic experiment when his father, Mentor, combined Deviant and Eternal DNA and created a powerful psychopath. From being a recurring enemy of the original Captain Marvel to bringing a threat to the Avengers and Eternals, Thanos is undoubtedly one of the most popular Marvel villains.

However, in Marvel Dimensions, he is turned into a superhero. In the comic, the evil heroes of In-Verse are confronted with the coalition of heroes, which includes Thanos, aka Titanson. During the last battle, Titanson is seen fighting an evil alternate of Adam Warlock.

Adam Warlock has been a longtime nemesis of Thanos, and this is adapted in this alternate universe. Titanson is seen wearing the Kree sigil of the original Captain Marvel, while Adam Warlock is wearing a crown with the Infinity Stones.

Even though Titanson, the good Thanos, plays a pivotal role in the comics, he is not the leader of the alliance. Instead, the leader of the alliance is Brother Doom, the alternate hero version of Doctor Doom. His ultimate weapon is the Great Galan, an equivalent of Galactus.

The comic wrapped up without showcasing the result of the seismic battle. In short, there remains a chance that the future stories can be set in this alternate reality. What makes Marvel Dimensions fascinating is that it is set in In-Verse, where longtime fans can witness Marvel's evil forces turn to superheroes. It would be interesting to see Marvel follow up on these new alternate versions of fan favourite characters.

The press release described Ross' project as a story that will take the fans into (via Collider):

"The Marvel Universe in ways readers have never seen before. He uses his creativity and the structure of the book to increase anticipation and pull the reader deeper into a mystery that keeps widening with the turn of each page. Every new sequence reveals another layer, building toward a final act that reframes everything that comes before it."

Speaking about it, Ross explained that he genuinely wants to surprise the readers. He added that for this graphic comic, he wanted readers to experience mystery, suspense, and surprise. Ross said every detail, from story to design, has been planned extensively so that readers can travel to the In-Verse world seamlessly.
