Lifelong Democratic Party supporter Michael Douglas said that he hopes for an electoral massacre in the upcoming US midterm elections. He wants the Democratic Party to dominate the elections and is hoping for a sharp fall in President Donald Trump's support.

Douglas slammed President Trump for exhausting the promises he made to the citizens. He remarked:

"The president has exhausted his promises and repetitions and we’re seeing areas, especially in the Midwest, that haven’t been Democratic in years,”

Douglas also added that Congress is bound to change and the Senate too. He further addressed Democrats' plans to reactivate investigations into Trump and his political allies for cronyism and corruption. Until now, all requests for the documents have been ignored; control of Congress would help them issue subpoenas for more information.

Douglas also suggested that the Democrats would handle inflation and cost of living first. However, they would also continue to investigate the corruption without directly targeting the President. He also claimed that the Democrats have a good framework for how to proceed with their promises. He said (via Deadline):

"They’ve got a pretty good plan as to what they want to do, and it doesn’t mean indicting the president immediately. I think they hear the people talk, and they’re going to work on these issues of affordability, if there is this dramatic change,”

Michael Douglas claimed that instead of indicting the President, the Democratic Party will start by 'handpicking' his allies who are corrupt and have made a lot of money illegally.

The actor was then asked whether he was worried that Trump used his and other Hollywood celebrities' support for the Democrats to suggest that it is a party for the elite. In response, Douglas said President Trump was also a major television star; he added:

"I haven’t really felt that because the reason that he achieved such a degree of success was that he was a major television star on The Apprentice… 12 years he was like a leading star."

Michael Douglas said that everybody already knew Trump, and his role in The Apprentice is reflected exactly in his image as a President. He also claimed that it might be the reason why people loved him. Douglas said that he never took these statements as personal attacks. He said that Democrats are a 'liberal-bent party' and vocal supporters such as Robert De Niro and others are not afraid to raise their voices.

According to ABC News, President Trump called for a major investigation into several celebrity endorsements for Kamala Harris during the 2024 presidential campaign. He suggested without evidence that the celebrities were illegally paid.
