Actress Lauren Holly, best known for playing Director Jenny Shepard in the TV series NCIS, is calling out Donald Trump for lying about his experience in the aftermath of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Taking to Threads, Holly, 62, made a critical comment aimed at the U.S. President:“Where are the firemen who lifted DT out of the rubble of 9/11? Probably with the pilots who were rescued in Iran. (Image via Threads)Lauren’s remark came following Trump’s anecdote at an event on Tuesday where he recalled being “down there” close to Ground Zero, where two firefighters picked him up from near the U.S. Steel Building “right after” the attacks as they thought the building was going to collapse on them.“I’ll never forget two firemen; we thought it was coming down on top of us, and two firemen, big, strong guys. And I’m not the smallest guy in the world. They grabbed me under the arm, said, ‘Got to get out of here.’ They literally lifted me up. This is not easy to do. I’m big. They lifted me up, and they started running with me. I said, ‘Fellas, I can run myself.’ But they were amazing. But they thought it was coming down; it didn’t come down,” the POTUS claimed.It is noteworthy that there is no public evidence to suggest Trump was at the U.S. Steel Building, better known as One Liberty Plaza, on that fateful day or in the days leading up to the tragedy.Trump didn’t specify when exactly he encountered the firemen, but later clarified on Truth Social that it was “obviously not on the same day” as the World Trade Center collapse, “but shortly thereafter.” He also mentioned he was at the site with a “large group of construction workers.”Exploring further what Donald Trump said about visiting the 9/11 siteIn his Truth Social post, Donald Trump called out the “failing” New York Magazine for its article claiming he wasn’t “down” at the WTC after the “tragedy of September 11th because “nobody saw me there.” He continued to write:“I don’t think I would be the first thing on anyone’s mind, but I was there… I discussed it today during my Remarks on the Ellipse, in Washington, D.C., for Tunnel to Towers. Everything I said was exactly accurate and, to prove the point, I am attaching clips of me there with numerous of my people, including my then Head of Security, Matthew Calamari, who has confirmed that very sad trip to Lower Manhattan, many times, to many different journalists, but it’s a story that just won’t die.”The clip showed Donald walking down a construction site in New York City as a reporter approached him and asked him about the damage and his perspective as a lifelong developer.“Well, we’ve never seen anything like this. It’s disgraceful and I hope we attack fast. I hope we find out who it is and go fast.”When asked why he was “down there,” Trump said he had a hundred men working and more coming down and wanted to offer his “support” as they were doing an “amazing job.”“They are brave guys. A couple of them got hurt… I was just down at Ground Zero. Ground Zero is a disaster. I have never seen anything like this. I hope we act very quickly. I hope we find out who did it and act accordingly.”The real estate mogul also told journalists it sounded like a “good idea” and he had done it “over the years,” when asked whether he would donate to the widows and the children’s fund for the fallen firefighters.Trump continued to slam “fake news” and their low “approval ratings” in his latest social media post, alongside veteran NYT journalist Maggie Haberman who he calls “Maggot Hagerman.” He called her story “made-up” with no fact-checking.“On another September 11th front, Maggot Hagerman continues to say that I did not go to the New York World Trade Center event, but the Pentagon instead, because they wouldn’t let me speak in New York. Maggot knows that this is a lie! I have been to the New York solemn ceremony numerous times, and nobody speaks,” he wrote.The POTUS mentioned Vice President JD Vance was in NYC while he was at the Pentagon following a “strong request” for him to be there. He name-called Haberman and demanded a “retraction” from her and the writer of the NY Mag article, before ending his post with the words:“Again, check out the clips of me at the World Trade Center site. I was there as soon as the Law allowed.”According to NBC News, Donald Trump narrated the firefighter story during his January 2016 campaign in New Hampshire. Three months later, he spoke at a rally in Buffalo, NY, about “New York values” and his contribution in the aftermath of the September 11, 2001, attacks:“These people were going through terror, and you know what happened? Everyone who helped clear the rubble — and I was there, and I watched, and I helped a little bit. You didn’t know what was gonna come down on all of us.”Last month, speaking with Fox News’ Trey Gowdy, Trump recalled:“I’m watching, and I saw the second plane hit, and you saw that come, and you’re watching it, and it’s — because I watched the air patterns for years, and you, you know, you know where the planes are. They go up right up the Hudson River. This thing was coming right into the second building. And I said, ‘Wow!’ So, I watched that happen.”He further mentioned visiting Ground Zero with his employees on September 12 and working “long and hard” to help with the rescue efforts:“I was building a building in New York, and I had a lot of construction workers. And I went down there very shortly thereafter. The following day — you couldn’t go down the same day, but, like, the following day, very, very quickly afterwards. And we worked long and hard, but it was just so terrible and so hopeless.”Earlier, during a November 2015 rally in Ohio, Donald Trump claimed he saw nearly a dozen people “jumping” off the World Trade Center from his apartment inside Trump Tower in midtown Manhattan as well as witnessed the second plane hit the Twin Towers live. The claim has not been verified.That same month, he told George Stephanopoulos as well as rallygoers in Alabama that he also witnessed “thousands” of people in New Jersey “cheering” as the WTC came down, where the “Arab population” lived. There is no evidence to support Trump’s claims.On September 13, 2001, Donald Trump told NBC News:“Every few minutes, a whistle would go off and everybody would just run, because you have all the buildings around it, which are in such a weakened state that people just don’t know. And so, they just have to take off, and then they come back, and they’re working under 50-story buildings that you don’t know if they’re going to fall down. So, it’s a terrible thing for the workers and it’s a terrible thing for the world, really.”The President shared the video via Truth Social.Meanwhile, at the recent event, Trump said that his workers joined rescue and recovery crews without “hesitation” for nine months in the wake of the 9/11 attacks.
