Netflix breaks silence on Meghan Markle’s The Gentlemen Season 3 casting rumours

Netflix's hit action crime drama, The Gentlemen, is gearing up for a third season. Ahead of its production, a casting rumour has been making the rounds. According to multiple outlets, Meghan Markle is currently being considered for a role in Guy Ritchie's The Gentleman Season 3. If the rumours prove true, this casting would mark the Suits stars' return to acting after almost a decade.

Netflix has finally opened up about the rumours of whether the Duchess of Sussex is a part of The Gentlemen Season 3. Addressing the speculation, during the Edinburgh TV Festival, on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, Manda Levin, Netflix's scripted chief in the U.K said (via Deadline)

"All bets are off."

The streaming giant's scripted chief's comments have left the viewers in confusion. Although Netflix's refusal to deny Markle's involvement in the upcoming The Gentlemen Season 3 leaves the door open for the actress' potential return to acting in the crime drama series.

According to Deadline, sources have confirmed that casting talks are in an early stage. Whether the initial talk would lead to a deal is yet to be confirmed. Megan Markle and Prince Harry, who have been residing in California for six years, have already announced that they would be returning to the UK.

According to a Deadline report, Meghan Markle is apparently in talks to join Guy Ritchie's The Gentlemen Season 3. However, neither the Duchess of Sussex nor Netflix has confirmed the reports. Meanwhile, Netflix officials have also refused to deny the casting rumor at the Edinburgh TV Festival, keeping the possibility of Markle's involvement open.

This casting rumor also coincides with Markle and Prince Harry's announcement of returning to the U.K for an extended period of time, as the show is primarily shot in the U.K. and the surrounding areas. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Markle met Ritchie through mutual acquaintances.

Since the royal couple moved to the US in 2020, they have appeared in docuseries such as With Love, Meghan and Harry & Megan under their Netflix deal. Markle also hosts the Archetypes podcast and appeared in MasterChef Australia. She is also set to appear in a cameo in Amazon MGM Studios' Close Personal Friends.

The Gentlemen Season 3 potential plot, cast, and more

According to Variety, The Gentlemen Season 3 will have eight episodes. Filming is expected to start soon, and the project is currently in its pre-production stage. The scripts have not been finalized yet.

Guy Ritchie will serve as the director and will co-write the series with Matthew Reid. There is no official plotline/logline of the series. The series follows aristocrat Eddie Horniman (Theo James), who inherits his father's countryside estate, and eventually discovers that it consists of an underground cannabis ring connected to England's criminal empire.

Season 3 is expected to pick up after the events of Season 2. According to Season 2's synopsis, the story follows Eddie and Susie, who have joined forces to work for Bobby's criminal empire overseas. As they are set to expand the empire, Bobby is taking risky decisions. Will Eddie and Susie take action or risk everything?

There's no confirmed release date or cast list for Season 3 yet. Season 2 will drop on September 3, 2026.
