Marvel finally released the new Avengers: Doomsday preview, which aired with the World Series Game 1. The first thing we should know about the preview is that it is not a trailer. It includes a few new scenes, but it is more of a promotional campaign for the movie than a trailer that reveals more about the upcoming Avengers movie.

The new Avengers: Doomsday preview connects to The Fantastic Four: First Steps by incorporating the rumored scene set in a baseball game in Earth-828. This scene would have set up a key Doomsday plotline.

How does the new Avengers: Doomsday preview link to The Fantastic Four: First Steps?

The preview begins with a shot of a baseball stadium with the label "Earth-828". Then, we see Reed, Johnny, and Ben in the stadium, greeting the audience. Players are then shown talking about the Fantastic Four. Then Reed pitches the baseball, and the preview cuts to scenes from the movie. These scenes feature Steve Rogers rejoining the Avengers and speaking with Thor.

But the baseball portion of the preview does seemingly confirm rumors from last year that it was meant to be a part of The Fantastic Four: First Steps post-credit scene. As Ben, Reed, and Johnny are at the baseball stadium, Doom enters the Baxter Building. What we saw in the final cut of The Fantastic Four: First Steps is Doom being in Franklin's presence.

But the baseball portion of The Fantastic Four: First Steps' post-credit scene would have confirmed one thing: Steve Rogers has relocated to Earth-828, a mystery for Avengers: Doomsday to solve.

Why would Steve Rogers be on Earth-828?

Leaks have suggested that Steve and Peggy Carter move to the Fantastic Four Earth because of Rogers' decision to stay back in the past in Avengers: Endgame. Steve Rogers' action of traveling back in time created a branched timeline in Earth-616 (the prime MCU Earth), which the TVA decided to prune. But Loki decides to help Steve by moving him and his loved ones to Earth-828.

However, rumors suggest that the Rogers family's decision to relocate to a new Earth results in an incursion, which supposedly kills Doom's family. Therefore, leaks have hinted that Doomsday might downplay Victor von Doom's enmity with Reed Richards and have his anger reserved for Steve Rogers.

Steve Rogers' cameo in The Fantastic Four: First Steps' post-credit scene might have set up this key plotline, which would play out in Doomsday this December.

Doomsday could end with the villain victorious:

Doomsday leaks have suggested that Victor von Doom might win the day in the closing minute of the movie, setting up Avengers: Secret Wars. It could also plant the seeds for Victor's rivalry with Reed, as Doom would rewrite reality to make it such that Sue is married to him rather than Richards.

This change in reality was a key plotline in the 2015 Secret Wars comic, a story that the two Avengers movies are adapting. The upcoming two Avengers movies will streamline the staggering MCU continuity, much like what DC did with its comics' continuity in the 1980s with Crisis on Infinite Earths.

"'Avengers: Doomsday' follows beloved heroes from three distinct universes as they’re set on a deadly collision course and face an existential threat unlike anything they’ve ever encountered."
