The message follows the acquittal by a federal jury of Lil Durk of charges relating to a murder for hire scheme in 2022. The case centered on an alleged plot targeting rapper Quando Rondo, during which a man was fatally shot.

Lil Durk faced five charges following the incident, namely conspiracy; stalking resulting in death; use of interstate facilities to commit murder-for-hire resulting in death; possessing, using, carrying, and discharging firearms and a machine gun in furtherance of a crime of violence; and conspiracy to commit stalking.

The outcome marked the conclusion of one of the most highly anticipated federal court cases against the rapper, who had been a target of intense media coverage.

Meanwhile, despite the acquittal, Lil Durk still faces another legal proceeding. He is scheduled to appear in court for a second trial involving racketeering, murder, and firearms charges.

First Assistant U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli stated that the government will press on with the case, noting that the prosecutors were dissatisfied with the jury’s verdict in the murder-for-hire case and will produce their evidence at the forthcoming hearing.

Following his acquittal, the Chicago rapper took to his Instagram Stories to share his feelings about the matter and to express his gratitude to those who support him.

“Against all odds, we’re stronger together. Allah doesn’t make mistakes. I feel all the love and positive energy. Now let me be free to help save our kids and bring unity back to our communities. I couldn’t have made it this far without my family, my lawyers, and supporters. Freedom. Freedom. Freedom.”

Lil Durk also shared a photo of his legal defense team, comprising Drew Findling, Brian Steel, Marissa Goldberg, and Christy O'Connor. In the comments, Findling also left a message:

“Being the voice of the voice was and is my honor. Love you and will not relent in the fight on your behalf!”

Meanwhile, Steel was mobbed by Lil Durk’s supporters outside the courthouse after the verdict, with the rapper’s fans calling the lawyer “GOAT” and “MVP.”

Notably, Steel also represented Young Thug in the historic YSL racketeering trial.
