Ruby Rose became emotional while remembering her late friend Hayden Panettiere and reflecting on the close friendship they shared.

The actress referred to Hayden Panettiere, who passed away on Aug. 16 aged 36, as her “best friend.”

Holding back her tears, she explained to Entertainment Tonight that it’s because no one has asked her yet about the late star.

“That was my best friend. We spoke every day for five years. I didn’t even think we were gonna be friends.”

She went on:

“Five years of friendship, of texting every day, and checking in on each other. And Hayden, all that she ever wanted was to have her story told, her way, on her terms. She really wanted to have an experience like Collin [Gosselin] and I are having at the moment.”

The Resident Evil: The Final Chapter star still struggled while talking about Hayden Panettiere and told how she met her.

Initially, she wasn't sure about getting involved in such a relationship due to her experiences in the entertainment industry.

“I didn’t know if I wanted to have any celebrity friends, ’cause I didn’t have a great experience with the industry.”

Ruby Rose then remembered the first time she and the Bring It On icon met. She said they noticed each other, but Rose didn’t expect Panettiere to approach her.

“I saw her, she saw me, and I just remember thinking, ‘Oh, no.’”

Hayden Panettiere approached her anyway and introduced herself, according to Ruby Rose. She then suggested they find somewhere to talk because they had a lot in common.

“She ran up anyway and was like, ‘Hey, I’m Hayden. Can we go talk somewhere? We’ve got a lot in common.’”

The actress laughed as she remembered the unexpected introduction, which ultimately marked the beginning of their friendship.

In addition, she stated that they had grown from two friends to 14, who Ruby Rose calls family.

Meanwhile, Ruby Rose and Collin Thomas Gosselin competed together as contestants on the reality TV series Special Forces: World's Toughest Test. During this time, the two became close friends.

Gosselin also revealed his thoughts about Hayden Panettiere in the same interview.

“She deserved it. I can’t voice it enough when parents don’t look out for their children in this world. It’s scary. ‘Cause who else is going to do it?”

On Threads, Ruby Rose provided further context on her friendship with the young actor, revealing the young actor's unpleasant childhood, after a commenter pointed out they looked like mother and son.

“He did not have a good mother. I would have protected him.”
