Andrew Kolvet details alleged security lapses after Charlie Kirk family’s latest legal filing

The spokesperson for Turning Point USA, Andrew Kolvet, a close friend of the late Charlie Kirk, who was reportedly shot to death by Tyler Robinson, has opened up about the latest legal filing by Kirk's family against Utah Valley University, where Charlie's assassination took place in September 2025, several crucial officials, and the state of Utah.

As cited by Fox News, Andrew Kolvet, who was also the executive producer of The Charlie Kirk Show podcast, revealed that the Kirk family's latest legal filing on September 9, 2026, alleged that the officials of the state of Utah and Utah Valley University could have prevented Charlie's killing, as there were major security lapses due to which he was exposed and had no protection.

The Kirk family's latest legal filings accused the Utah Valley University officials of not taking any measures to stop students from visiting the rooftops on September 10, 2025, the day Charlie Kirk was shot. While there was no security on the rooftops, as it was accessible to students, according to reports, Charlie's reported killer, Tyler Robinson, fired his firearm from a building's rooftop, which was within the university campus.

The Kirk family has alleged that there were very few campus officers during Charlie's Turning Point USA event on the day he was killed. Charlie's family also alleged that while there were only six campus officers present that day, there was no arrangement done for drone surveillance or metal detectors, or even bag checks. Andrew Kolvet said on Fox & Friends:

"Orem PD right next door had drone coverage. They had a great drone program. They were expecting to get a call for support. That never happened."

According to Fox News, Andrew Kolvet, who first met Charlie Kirk in 2017 in Los Angeles in the lobby of a hotel, revealed that initially Charlie ignored him when he tried to get in touch with him through emails about working together.

While Kolvet was surprised to see how tall Charlie was in person, he mentioned how motivated and deliberate he was, with a multitasking nature, and that he did not like to waste time. Andrew Kolvet, while talking about launching The Charlie Kirk Show podcast in 2019, said:

"It was supposed to be a once-a-week podcast — how could a man as busy as Charlie do more? But Charlie was always exceptional. Once a week morphed during COVID-19 into three, then five, then sometimes 10 episodes a week. Soon, it became a nationally syndicated radio program as well, and in 2022, it became a wildly successful television program."

Kolvet added:
