But that is a story for another day.” View this post on Instagram Instagram PostRamos also remembered Rashaun as a fiercely loyal friend and someone she had spent most of her life with, both in good and bad.“Today, I want to honor my best friend for the woman she was and the life she lived. Anika Rashaun Walker Rehn was part of my life longer than she wasn’t. She was my mirror: the good, the bad, the ugly, the really ugly. She wasn’t just my friend. She was my other half. If you knew me, you knew her.”She went on:“As teenagers, our codependence could be toxic at times and beautiful at others. Anika was by my side as my mother fought breast cancer and then passed away. I was by hers as her grandparents descended deeper into dementia. No questions asked. No words needed. The theme of our friendship was always: I got you.”She praised Rashaun’s determination, recalling how she moved to Thailand without knowing anyone, went skydiving on a first date, and began building businesses as a child.“I spent more than 20 years of my life with Anika. She was always so unapologetically herself, so real in her stances, her convictions, her beliefs. Her ability to get what she wanted, to talk you into things, to convince you, was one of a kind. The way she showed up for her friends, fiercely loyal and loving to the end, was on a whole different level.” View this post on Instagram Instagram PostIn her letter, Ramos also expressed that she was heartbroken and angry after Rashaun’s passing. Nevertheless, she left with a promise to her best friend that she would “love without limits, fly without fear, make more spontaneous decisions, and, most importantly, stop at nothing to help find a cure for breast cancer.” Ramos went on:“Anika was beautiful, inside and out. She was kind. She loved without limits. She loved life. She lived life. She experienced things others could only dream of. She had stories, memories, and moments you would never believe.”
