Elon Musk reshared one of his old tweets in which he explained why he broke away from the Democratic Party and predicted a "dirty tricks campaign" against him over his political shift. Musk, who has been actively campaigning for Republicans ahead of the elections, took to X on Saturday and reshared his 2022 tweet, in which he wrote:"In the past I voted Democrat, because they were (mostly) the kindness party. But they have become the party of division & hate, so I can no longer support them and will vote Republican. Now, watch their dirty tricks campaign against me unfold …"While quote-posting the post, Musk wrote:"As predicted."Musk highlighted his earlier warning amid intensifying criticism from Democrats. As the world's richest person and one of the GOP's leading donors, he has frequently faced Democratic scrutiny over his vast wealth, control in the tech sector, and political influence. In a recent report, Politico mentioned Democrats' intention to investigate Elon Musk if they secure control of Congress. Reacting to Politico's report on October 21, the Tesla CEO retorted, saying:"Live by the sword, die by the sword... Those who pick fights with me should understand that I will find out who is really pulling the strings and come for them, not just their puppets."Elon Musk shares his “biggest concern” about a potential Democratic “clean sweep” in 2028On Tuesday, Elon Musk shared a post on X expressing his concerns about the Democratic Party's victory in the midterms and the next presidential election. He alleged that if Democrats achieve such a "clean sweep," they would:"1. Make DC and Puerto Rico states to gain a strong majority in the Senate. 2. Open the borders and legalize everyone living in America illegally to cement a permanent majority. 3. Increase the size of the Supreme Court to gain an immediate majority."Musk feared that these potential changes would turn the US into a "permanent one-party state," which he said would be the "end of democracy." He then advocated for a Republican victory, writing:"All that is needed to ensure this doesn’t happen is 51 Republican senators in 2029. That is why you should vote for Republican senators this election. Other reasons are irrelevant compared to this one."According to The Guardian, Elon Musk has funneled more than $445 million to support Republicans in this midterm cycle through various PACs and other groups. Per the outlet, Musk previously donated nearly $300 million to Trump's 2024 presidential campaign.
