Former The Bachelor contestant Melissa Rycroft Strickland has been arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated in Texas, two months after pleading guilty to a previous DWI charge.

The 43-year-old reality TV alum was arrested in Southlake on Sunday, Nov. 1, according to jail records reviewed by PEOPLE.

She faces charges of driving while intoxicated, driving while her license was invalid with a prior conviction or suspension without financial responsibility, and collision causing damage to a vehicle under $200.

Her bond was set at a combined $9,000, records show. Because this new arrest occurred while she was on probation for the first offense, the legal complications are expected to escalate significantly.

Under Texas law, according to the Texas Constitution and Statutes page, committing a subsequent Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) offense while actively serving probation for a first DWI creates immediate and severe legal consequences.

The state treats a new offense as a direct violation of community supervision terms, initiating a dual track of separate legal proceedings.

Melissa Rycroft Strickland’s 2025 DWI charge

The latest arrest comes more than a year after Melissa Rycroft Strickland was arrested in Southlake on Sept. 23, 2025, and charged with DWI.

According to a statement from the Southlake Police Department, officers responded to a single-vehicle crash around 12:05 p.m. local time and found "a black Cadillac Escalade that had struck a tree."

"Prior to the crash, witnesses reportedly observed the Escalade driving erratically.”

Police identified Melissa Rycroft Strickland as the driver. Officers evaluated her at the scene and administered a Standardized Field Sobriety Test before arresting her and transporting her to Keller Jail. At the time, police reported:

"No other vehicles were involved, and no injuries were reported.”

Amid public backlash from her mugshot, the former Bachelor contestant broke her silence on Instagram in October 2025, stating:

"Life really sucks right now, and I’m struggling, but I’m trying to march forward, but thank you for the sweet words in what seems like a world of negativity."

In August 2026, Melissa Rycroft Strickland entered a plea deal to resolve the 2025 charge, signed off by a judge. By pleading guilty, she avoided a potential 280-day jail sentence.

Melissa Rycroft Strickland appeared on the 13th season of The Bachelor in 2009. She ended the season as the winner. She competed as a 25-year-old former Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader and sales representative from Dallas, Texas.

Her time on the show produced one of the most infamous and shocking finales in reality television history when her engagement was abruptly broken off on live national television.

In the show, single dad Jason Mesnick blindsided Melissa on-camera, officially ending their six-week engagement and confessing that he still had feelings for runner-up Molly Malaney.

A furious Melissa demanded her ring back and walked off the set.

Later, she got back together with her ex, Tye Strickland, whom she married in December 2009 in Mexico.
