The legendary singer-turned-actress Barbra Streisand, who has been a critic of President Donald Trump for quite a few years now, has once again called him out in a Threads post for spending $5.1 million to paint "garish gold" horse statues in Washington, D.C., as he cut out health care subsidies for American citizens.

According to the BBC, President Trump has regilded the Arts of War statues near the Lincoln Memorial in D.C. with 23.75-karat gold, which cost over $5 million to complete. The expensive renovation comes after Trump and his administration stopped health care subsidies for the American people.

According to PBS News, following the introduction of Donald Trump's One Big Beautiful Bill Act in July 2025, over five million Americans have lost their SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits, leading to a cut in the program's funding, leaving people with few options but to turn to food banks.

However, the Funny Girl actress Barbra Streisand took to her official Threads account and shared a post on October 21, 2026, calling out Trump and criticizing him for cutting food assistance and health care subsidies. Streisand's Threads post read:

"Trump spent $5.1 million of our money to paint 4 historic bronze horses garish gold, while he is cutting food assistance and health care subsidies for our people!"

While this was not Barbra Streisand's first time calling out President Trump, the Oscar-winning actress took a shot at him for threatening to shut down and rename the Kennedy Center on her personal website on September 17, 2026. A Kennedy Center Honoree herself, Streisand expressed her concerns regarding Trump's reported plans to rename the center. In her statement, Streisand wrote:

"For me, and for so many artists, that honor represented something larger than a career recognition. It represented a belief in the importance of art to the life of a democracy. That is why what is happening to the Kennedy Center is so galling and painful to witness."

While Barbra Streisand mentioned that it's not possible to change the name of the Kennedy Center without an act of Congress, she continued:

"When Donald Trump attempted to put his name alongside the late President Kennedy’s on the building’s entrance, the move was met with widespread opposition from artists and much of the public."

Streisand went ahead and wrote:

"Yet the fight continued. After his name was removed, a humiliated Trump ordered a large tarp placed over the facade, where it remains today. The Trump-aligned board then relentlessly lobbied again to add his name, prompting another federal ruling that blocked their effort."

The Hello, Dolly! actress Barbra Streisand concluded her statement by noting:

"And now, a thoroughly defeated Trump has announced that the Kennedy Center is being closed for what the completely stacked board describes as a major renovation. Oddly, when Trump’s name was still on the building, there was no discussion of closing it. You can easily imagine my indignation at seeing this revered institution become the subject of such a bitter struggle over one man’s name and unchecked ego."
