Celine Dion returned to the stage on Sept. 12, marking her first concert in six years with an emotional performance just outside Paris, France.The “Queen of Power Ballads” took the stage at Plénitude Arena, where an estimated 30,000 fans gathered for her long-awaited comeback. Celine Dion became visibly emotional during the performance and broke down in tears as she addressed the crowd.At one point during the show, she thanked her fans for their support and told them how much she had missed seeing them.“I had promised myself not to cry … So here I am, singing for you. Thank you so very much for your support, your patience, and if I may say so, I am everything I am because you loved me.”She spoke about keeping her promise to come back to perform after taking a break from being in the limelight.As she closed the first night of her Paris residency, the Immortality hitmaker also didn't forget about people who couldn't watch her perform."There are hundreds of people you can’t see behind the scenes — behind the scenes, on the sides, everywhere. Thank you all, because we put this show together. And to you all, I love you. Be careful. Take good care of yourselves. I’m so happy to be here. Thank you for accepting my invitation. I love you, my darlings."When did Celine Dion get diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome?The songstress performed several of her biggest songs during the concert, such as My Heart Will Go On, It’s All Coming Back To Me, All By Myself, Because You Loved Me, and The Power of Love, among others.Her comeback made waves in Paris ahead of the concert, with her fans waiting outside her hotel in hopes of catching a glimpse of the music legend. She also took time to sing and dance for some of her fans.The Paris concert marks the beginning of a 26-date run, which was announced by Celine Dion back in March, on her birthday.At the time, she said that she had started singing and dancing again, and performing for her fans “is the best gift of my life.”Having been absent from the performance stages for several years now, Celine Dion has finally kept the promise to return to her fans who have supported her throughout her health struggles.The music icon was officially diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome (SPS) in August 2022 after experiencing hidden symptoms for roughly 17 years. Her diagnosis caused delays in her shows and the ultimate cancelation of her tours.While SPS is considered an incurable, rare autoimmune neurological disorder, Celine Dion defied expectations by making a breathtaking live return at the Paris 2024 Olympics opening ceremony, where she performed Édith Piaf’s Hymne à l'amour.Dion’s Paris residency closes in May 2027.
