On September 24, Macklemore announced his ‘Free Palestine Tour’ shortly after his removal from Ed Sheeran’s ongoing tour over his political remarks. For those unaware, the rapper was removed from Sheeran’s ‘Loop Tour’ after he chanted ‘Free Palestine’ during his opening act. Therefore, he came up with his own tour to support the people of Palestine. In his announcement post, Macklemore said that artists must use their stage for more than entertainment. The rapper targeted the billionaires and stadium owners, who reportedly forced the promoters to remove him from Sheeran’s tour.“If these last couple of weeks have shown us anything, it's that something has shifted over the last three years. There has been a collective awakening around Palestinian liberation, the power of billionaires that try to censor that call, and what we expect from artists right now.”He seemingly aimed at Ed Sheeran, saying that being ‘apolitical’ during the ‘genocide’ doesn’t work now. The rapper wrote:“It's 2026. Being apolitical during a genocide doesn't work anymore. People are asking artists to show up, educate themselves, and be in community. To use the stage for more than entertainment. To push back when the call for a Free Palestine is met with attempts to silence it.” View this post on Instagram Instagram PostMacklemore added:“What happened to me is bigger than one artist or one stage. When the billionaire class can decide which voices are allowed on stage and which ones are too dangerous to hear, everyone should be paying attention.”The proceeds of the ‘Free Palestine Tour’ will go to help people of Palestine. As of this writing, the rapper has announced a tour for three locations, including Paris, Dublin, and London. He also encouraged other artists to join him in supporting Palestine, especially those who are not worried about the consequences. He wrote:“Artists who understand that our platforms mean very little if we're only willing to use them when it's safe.”The rapper mentioned that he is still figuring out the schedules, artists, and other details of his tour. More dates for the US are likely to be added in the near future. The ticket presale will kick off on September 28 at 10 AM local, which will be followed by general sales on September 30.
