On September 9, Bernie Sanders called out President Trump for his stance on AI. The US Senator reshared a clip from the president’s recent interview where he talked about AI. Earlier on September 3, President Trump gave an interview to GB News where he showed his support for AI after being asked if it could turn against ‘humanity’.To this, POTUS said that we can stop AI at any time. He went on to say that even though robots are ‘big,’ bigger things can be achieved with it. He said:“It's going to be fine. We'll always have something to stop them, right? We have a little gear. Well, I really hope I don't like that. I really don't like that robot. We'll stop. But no, robots are going to be a part of it. Robots are going to be big, but uh we're going to end up doing much better because of it.”To support AI, he said that it’s creating several jobs today.“It's technology no different than when television was they said the movies would be out of business and the radio came and something else was going to be gone and it's always everything is people should think more positively. But AI right now in this country is creating tremendous numbers of jobs.” POTUS said.Bernie Sanders called Trump’s stance on AI ‘ignorance,’ and he instead warned against the threat of ‘uncontrolled’ AI. The Vermont Senator urged that the development of this technology should be paused.“Trump’s ignorance about AI is appalling and extremely dangerous. No, Mr. President. We won’t have a “little gear” to protect humanity from the threat of an uncontrolled AI. We must pause development NOW.”President Trump dismissed speculation that AI can take jobsWhen interviewer Bev Turner asked the President of the United States if AI would take away millions of jobs, he responded that it would instead generate millions of jobs and businesses. He also claimed that AI is going to be ‘positive.’ Trump said:"I think it'll create millions of jobs because it's going to create business and people, you know, computers and things have to be created in some form. And they're created by man. They are created, but they're created by us. It's going to always start with us. But I think it actually will. And so far, I'm right, because it's creating millions and millions of jobs. And these are construction jobs. But AI is going to be positive."During his interview, the POTUS also mentioned that AI would assist medical breakthroughs and highlighted its potential to improve military accuracy.
