Glambot director Cole Walliser has apologized after he was called "dismissive" by Yinka Animasaun in emails that resurfaced on social media this month. Designer Yinka Animashaun, in 2019, had asked if Walliser and the GlamBOT - a high-speed camera known for capturing slow-motion videos- were available for private events. In a January 18 X post, Yinka shared the 11-email exchange, mentioning that Walliser had been rude and "dismissive" to her. While responding to Yinka's tweet, Cole Walliser shared a video defending himself and said,"In 2019, I didn't have a team around me. It was just myself. I edited every single video. I answered every single mail and I was overwhelmed. But that is not an excuse. Everything lands on me."Cole said that the racist accusations towards him were the "hardest part" since he's half Chinese, and relates to issues of identity, race, and belonging. After his apology went viral on the internet, netizens took to Pop Crave's comment section on X to express their reactions. While some believed it to be a heartfelt apology, others alleged that it was PR orchestrated,A user (@hugofloores) called the apology, "pr orchestrated","I just hate a calculated PR-orchestrated "apology" video"Another user (@J13_13F) alleged that it was "too late" to apologize,"Damn. This is too late though."Another user (@lookdotfun) claimed Walliser was only apologizing since he was called out,"Only apologizing since he got called out"Another user (@buffys) called Walliser "rude","We don't care he's rude"Another user (@iconic_look) accused him of being racist,"Yeah play the asian card as if you can't be racist if ur not white lmao"What did Cole Walliser say in his email to Yinka Animashaun? As per Yinka Animashaun's January 19 tweet, Yinka reached out to Cole, saying,"Are you/the Glambot available for private events such as a wedding? I'd love to have you at mine September 20th and September 22nd. Please let me know your availability and rates."Walliser thanked her for the inquiry and insinuated that Yinka would not be able to afford it."It's not cheap, if you feel like something like this might be within your budget range, then I am happy to discuss further."When Yinka confirmed that the price is in her budget range, Cole Walliser doubted her, noting that he hadn't named the rates yet. Walliser named the rates in the following emails, mentioning that he would take a 10% deposit to secure the gear. When Yinka noted that she would reach out to him, Cole Walliser accused her of pretending to book it when she really wanted to inquire about the prices.
