Blake Garrett, the former child actor who retired from acting, has died in Oklahoma. Garrett appeared in the 2006 family movie How to Eat Fried Worms. He passed away at the age of thirty-three. His mother, Carol Garrett, confirmed his death to TMZ
She said he died on Sunday. Last week, he had experienced severe pain and went to the emergency room, where he was diagnosed with shingles. Carol Garrett told the outlet that she thought her son might have self-medicated.
She later said that his death might have been an accident. She expressed in the end that Blake Garrett, had lived a good life in Oklahoma for the past three years after becoming sober.
Blake Garrett shared fun experience filming bicycle scene in How to Eat Fried Worms:

In 2006, Blake Garrett portrayed Plug in Bob Dolman's adaptation of the popular 1973 children's book of the same name. The movie centered on a boy who accepts a bet that he can't eat 15 worms in 15 days. The film featured Kimberly Williams-Paisley, Clint Howard, Andrea Martin, Tom Cavanagh, James Rebhorn, and many young actors. Hallie Eisenberg was part of the cast.
The group won the prize for Best Young Ensemble in a Feature Film at the Young Artist Awards in 2007.
Before that movie, Garrett had toured with Barney, the iconic purple dinosaur. He appeared in 2004's Barney's Colorful World, Live!
Blake Garrett spoke to The Oklahoman newspaper ahead of the movie's release.
"I play the bully's henchman. But everybody got along on the set," he said in 2006.
He described his experience on his final movie before leaving the film industry as fun.
"There were rows of bicycles, and they let me have first pick. There was one scene where we were riding on a gravel road and got to slide to a stop. The guys who could ride worked on that scene. They had a camera on the ground, and in one scene I slid and gravel hit the camera. They really liked that shot, and that's the one they used in the movie," Garrett shared.
He had worked on local productions before this film. These included Peanuts: A Charlie Brown Tribute and Aladdin and His Magical Lamp.

Someone else recalled watching How To Eat Fried Worms.
"One of my fav movies and characters. RIP," the person shared.
Another fan echoed the same feelings.
"That movie is a classic. I still watch it every now and then," the fan wrote.
One more fan added something about the film's upcoming anniversary.
"This year, will be the 20th anniversary of the film how to eat fried worms. R.I.P," the fan said.
Shingles is an infection that causes a painful rash. It can occur when chickenpox is reactivated in adults who contracted it when they were younger. Around one in three people develop shingles in their lifetime, according to the CDC.
Blake Garrett didn't continue with screen acting after How to Eat Fried Worms. After filming the movie, Blake headed back to Edmond, Oklahoma. He finished out his time at Summit Middle School there. Local news station News on 6 reported in 2006 that Blake was hoping to focus on sports. He wanted to play cornerback or safety on the football team and possibly take part in wrestling.
