A viral social media post alleging that Travis Kelce legally changed his surname to Swift following his wedding to Taylor Swift has gone viral online. However, there is no confirmation that the Kansas City Chiefs tight end has submitted paperwork to change his surname, and the rumor stems from a parody account. The rumor comes just days after the big wedding, prompting fans to question.

Did Travis Kelce file paperwork to legally change his last name to Swift?

There is no verified evidence indicating that Travis Kelce has submitted legal documents or publicly declared his intention to change his surname to Swift.

The claim arises from a spoof account on X that falsely claimed Kelce intended to adopt Taylor Swift's surname following their marriage. Despite being fake, the post became viral before users realized it had been created as a joke.

This just comes days after their wedding, when social media started speculating on who would take on whose surname. While the parody tweet stated Kelce would become "Travis Swift," neither the pair nor their representatives have indicated that such a decision was ever discussed.

The rumor also made its way to Wikipedia, where Taylor Swift's page was edited. An editor had temporarily changed the page to identify the singer as "Taylor Alison Kelce (née Swift)" following reports. The editor wrote:

“Taylor Alison Kelce (nee Swift; born December 13, 1989), known professionally as Taylor Swift, is an American singer-songwriter.”

It was later restored to her original name by another editor.

Much of the speculation was fueled by the recent wedding and the attention it has been generating, rather than any factual development.

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's wedding

The couple's big wedding at Madison Square Garden attracted a lot of attention. Big names attended the wedding, with comedian Adam Sandler officiating the ceremony, with Taylor's brother Austin Swift serving as Man of Honor and Travis' brother Jason Kelce as Best Man.

The stadium was transformed into an indoor forest. American singer-songwriter Stevie Nicks, who shares a close bond with Taylor and considers her "the daughter I never had", performed at the reception. Even Sir Paul McCartney was one of the attendees and had performed I Want to Hold Your Hand, according to sources.

The reception was reported to have more than 1000 people in attendance, with the likes of Selena Gomez, Ed Sheeran, Jennifer Lopez, Brad Pitt, Bradley Cooper, Dakota Johnson, Tom Hanks, and Sabrina Carpenter.

The pair also declined to have traditional bridesmaids and groomsmen, and they apparently wrote their own wedding vows. A sign outside the stadium read “JUST&T MARRIED.”

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have not commented on the popular rumor, and no official records or remarks back up the claim.
