Production of the Tesla Cybertruck, which looks like a car straight out of a Blade Runner film, is gradually slowing. According to the BBC, Tesla CEO and tech billionaire Elon Musk, 55, has recently signalled that the company will wind down Cybertruck production, mainly because of poor sales.
As cited by the BBC, Elon Musk did not clearly reveal whether Tesla has plans to completely stop the production of Cybertrucks, but he did mention focusing more on its self-driving Cybercab cars. Following its launch in 2023, Cybertruck sales haven't been great, as the numbers did not turn out as expected.
After the news of Elon Musk's decision to wind down production of Cybertrucks broke online, netizens have shared their thoughts on the matter, and it seems like some of them are not happy about it, while others made fun of its design and expressed their disappointment with its high price.
Elon Musk has often stressed the fact that the Cybertrucks were one of his passion projects, which meant a lot to him. In March 2026, Musk said about Cybertrucks:
"It was way more awesome than people realize."
Then, in April, Musk said:
Cybertrucks were "the best product Tesla made."

"Ugliest design since that Buick in the 90s - or Pontiac - or perhaps both nameplates used that terrible design - I don't remember. I saw someone once describe the cybertruck as 'Playstation 2 Graphics' and they couldn't have been more right." said an X user
"Anyone surprised that the Cybertruck is headed for the history books? Thirty years from now, someone will find an old photo with one in the driveway and ask, 'Wait, you actually paid for that thing?'" commented an X user
