Nicki Minaj has sparked fresh debate online after reacting to the outcome of the 2026 US midterm elections, in which Democrats made significant gains and took control of both chambers of Congress.

The rapper, who had publicly backed many Republican candidates before the November 3 elections, took to X to make a series of critical remarks about the results. Among them was a comment intended for users who continue to post on Elon Musk's platform, in which she wrote:

“Elon is STILL a trillionaire, and you are STILL posting on his app.”

Minaj also defended President Donald Trump, thanked Republican candidates for their victories, and criticized spending on what she described as a losing, celebrity-led campaign.

Her comments came after online reports surfaced that every Republican candidate she supported lost to Democratic opponents. However, the claim was not entirely correct. According to Snopes, three of the four Republican candidates Minaj expressly backed lost their individual contests, but Florida gubernatorial candidate Byron Donalds won against Democrat David Jolly.

What did Nicki Minaj say after the Republicans' midterm losses?

In a lengthy post on X, Nicki Minaj offered a list of 15 remarks about the election results, Trump's presidency, her supporters, and Musk's continuous usage of his social media platform.

She began by insisting that Trump remain president and referred to the public's continued obsession with the Queen. She also confirmed her religious beliefs, adding, "Jesus is STILL LORD," before complimenting the Vice President on the "great insight."

Nicki Minaj praised various election winners, including Republican Reps. Anna Paulina Luna and Byron Donalds.

She also criticized the losing campaign's spending:

"Blowing a billion on a losing campaign full of celebrities is STILL hurting them."

The rapper then addressed her fanbase, the Barbz, claiming that they were "STILL PRETTY!!!" She also commented on her own relationship with voting, noting:

"I don't vote, I VETO."

Her post included comments about Christians being slain and a demand for "our people" to wake up. She closed that section by expressing gratitude to her fans, adding:

"Love you."

The most frequently discussed part of her post was on Elon Musk and X. She wrote:

"Elon is STILL a trillionaire and you are STILL posting on his app. I’m sure the shareholders appreciate the dialogue."

Nicki Minaj also praised Grok, an AI chatbot created by Musk's xAI, calling it "a phenomenal product" that had "significantly changed my life for the better." She continued by thanking the account she had tagged in the post.

Did all the Republican candidates endorsed by Nicki Minaj lose the midterms?

Following the November 3 elections, some social media users reported that every Republican candidate Minaj supported lost to a Democratic opponent.

The claim was based on the rapper's public support for four Republican candidates ahead of the midterm elections. However, the results indicate that the statement was only partially correct.

Nicki Minaj backed Republican Mike Rogers in Michigan, but he lost to Democrat Abdul El-Sayed. She also supported Bruce Blakeman in the New York gubernatorial contest, where incumbent Governor Kathy Hochul was victorious.

In another Michigan contest, Nicki Minaj backed Republican gubernatorial candidate John James, who lost to Democrat Jocelyn Benson. However, Florida Republican gubernatorial candidate Byron Donalds, who also had Minaj's backing, defeated Democratic candidate David Jolly.

Snopes consequently rated the broader claim as mixed, noting that three of the four candidates lost while Donalds won his race.

Minaj's support for Donald Trump and Republican candidates

Nicki Minaj's endorsements coincided with her increasingly public support for Trump and Republican candidates during the election campaign. The rapper had joined Trump in his nationwide campaign for Republicans ahead of the midterm elections. She also utilized her social media presence to encourage voters to support Republican candidates, advising them to "vote red."

Her support went beyond broad political messaging, with the four individual endorsements being a topic of conversation when the election results were announced.

The Guardian reported on October 25 that Minaj and Trump attended a Republican campaign event in Michigan together.

Her political involvement drew additional attention when Trump was asked about Minaj's potential role in his government. During an appearance on The Benny Show, he reportedly indicated that naming her as a prospective White House press secretary was a "good idea," but that he would have to think about it more.

Minaj spotted at a New Hampshire polling station

Nicki Minaj was seen outside Pinkerton Academy in Derry, New Hampshire, on Election Day, where she was escorted by police during an appearance near a polling station.

According to NBC 10 Boston, the rapper spoke briefly with a woman in the audience who complimented her for touring with President Donald Trump. Minaj was then escorted away to an unmarked tour bus.

She was one of several public celebrities sighted in the state for the midterm elections, including former NFL stars Rob Gronkowski and Danny Amendola, as well as fighters Mike Tyson and Floyd Mayweather.

New Hampshire's election results were mixed. Republican incumbent Governor Kelly Ayotte won re-election, while Democrat Chris Pappas captured the state Senate seat.

The November 3 elections saw Democrats take control of both the House of Representatives and the Senate, altering the balance of power in Congress. The party won several carefully watched elections, but Republicans also won individual state races, notably Ayotte's gubernatorial contest in New Hampshire.
