Mehdi Hasan has shared his thoughts on JD Vance's recent speech in Montana. The US Vice President spoke about 9/11 and the US people who fought wars afterward.

The US midterm elections are scheduled for November 3, and the campaigns are ongoing. JD Vance has been at the forefront in various states for the Republicans. The candidates for the US Senate from Montana are the Republican Kurt Alme and the Democratic Alani Bankhead, among others.

On Monday, October 26, Vance spoke at a rally in Montana ahead of the elections and referenced the 9/11 tragedy. He said:

"A very distinctive memory I have of right after 9/11. I was a young man in high school. I remember that sense of pride. You remember that? That all of us had, Democrat, Republican, and independent in our country, and I remember driving to a local gas station to wait hours in line for gasoline that was now, of course, more expensive because of a region of the world made up of countries of names that I couldn't even pronounce."
"Of course, in the aftermath of 9/11, it wasn't the politicians' kids who went off to fight the wars. It was us. It was the people in this room. It was me and my family. It was kids from Montana and Ohio whose love for this country reached to our very bones," he added.

Mehdi Hasan slammed Vance for his comments, writing on X:

"JD Vance's in-laws' names are Radhakrishna Chilukuri and Lakshmi Chilukuri. I wonder if he tells them this stuff, too. To their faces. Or does he just save it for white MAGA rallies? Truly a racist pathetic embarrassment of a son-in-law to his brown Indian immigrant in-laws."

In the midterm elections, Abdul El-Sayed is the Democratic candidate for the US Senate from Michigan. He is up against the Republican candidate Mike Rogers.

During the campaign, the US President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance have taken numerous digs at El-Sayed, including his religion. During a rally earlier this month, Vance said:

"You deserve better than a little weasel who should shut his mouth and show a little gratitude to the country that gave him everything."

Journalist Mehdi Hasan slammed this statement on X and wrote:

"It’s bad enough when they tell immigrants to show ‘gratitude’ but now they’re telling a man born in America he should show ‘gratitude’ - what, because he’s a Muslim? Also, it wasn’t El-Sayed who wrote a book complaining about his community and upbringing, it was Vance."

Mehdi Hasan has slammed Vance's speeches and his thoughts on various policies in recent months on his X account. Meanwhile, the US Vice President and El-Sayed have also engaged in a war of words ahead of the midterms.

Earlier this month, Vance said that El-Sayed was more interested in the conflict in Gaza than in working for the people of Michigan. Hasan responded to this statement and said that Vance's administration "literally started" the conflict in the Middle East.
