On September 7, Erika Kirk shared her ‘reflections on grief’ in a new opinion essay for The New York Times ahead of the first anniversary of Charlie Kirk’s murder, titled "What I’ve Learned About Grief". The TPUSA founder was assassinated on September 10 last year during his event at UVU.In her piece of writing, Charlie Kirk’s widow remembered the time after her husband’s death when she returned home to her kids. She wrote that she felt pain in her chest as everything in her house reminded her of Charlie.Erika Kirk shared her feelings about remembering Charlie after his death, mentioning everything from his toothbrush to his towel. She also wrote that she avoided her bedroom for a few months after Charlie’s killing. Erika decided to face her pain gradually after her husband’s death.The TPUSA CEO shared her article on X, calling grief a ‘universal language’ and an important part of human experience. The caption of her post read:“For all the things that divide us, grief is a universal language and a defining part of the human experience. At some point, every one of us will love someone we have to say an earthly goodbye to.”Erika Kirk added:“I am still learning how to walk through each day carrying the grief I feel for my Charlie. Some days I have a vague understanding of God’s plan, others I don’t, but I trust Him completely. He is my only strength. TPUSA, on the other hand, claimed that Charlie Kirk said his wife would take his place if anything happened to him.Following Charlie’s murder, his alleged killer, Tyler Robinson, was arrested on September 11. Most recently, the murder suspect pleaded not guilty to all the charges in Charlie Kirk’s murder.
