Following the death of Alex Pretti, an intensive care nurse killed by federal agents in Minneapolis, musician and producer Finneas has claimed that TikTok shadowbanned a video in which he harshly criticized conservative gun arguments. Many followers and TikTok users have noticed this as well.

What did Finneas say?

Finneas, who boasts an enormous fan base, with a fan following of almost 4 million, openly addressed what he called long-standing conservative defenses of gun control in the US in the video clip, contending that these arguments have led to avoidable deaths. He said:

“The conservative argument that allows school shootings to continue has always basically boiled down to, ‘We have to protect the second amendment. We have to allow people to carry weapons… legally.’”

He continued by denouncing reactions that condoned the killing of Alex Pretti since Pretti legally owned a firearm:

“Every argument I’ve seen for why Alex Pretti’s death was ‘justified’ yesterday is like, ‘Well he had a gun.’ Shut the f**k up! You’ve spent 30 years straight telling us that children have to die so that we’re allowed to legally carry weapons everywhere in the United States.”

Finneas stressed that Alex Pretti did not even use his weapon during the encounter:

“This guy was being beaten to a pulp on the ground, he didn’t draw his weapon. He had a weapon on him LEGALLY. And they shot the f**k out of him.”

Claims of shadowbanning and visibility issues

Soon after the video clip was posted on TikTok, users noticed the zero views, the low likes and for some, the content was not even available.

One user wrote:

"Finneas has almost 4 million followers and a video he posted 7 hours ago barely has 8,000 likes and it says it has “zero views” which is obviously impossible. take a big guess as to what he was talking about."

Another commented that the video was not accessible at all:

"Bro finneas' video is deadass not even available for me on tiktok they really are silencing him."

While a third added:

"The fact that it says this video has 0 views and tiktok is completely silencing this is insane. it’s terrifying and everyone should be very scared."

Finneas noticed this and uploaded the video clip on Instagram, mentioning that his account has been shadowbanned on TikTok. The video clip on Instagram, at the moment, has gained close to 300k likes and 3.8 million views.

Who is Alex Pretti?

Alex Pretti was a 37-year-old intensive care nurse at the Minneapolis Veterans Affairs hospital. He was shot and killed by federal agents during a protest in Minneapolis, and there are conflicting reports about what happened.

The government said an agent shot Pretti in self-defense because he was holding a handgun. But video footage analyzed by news organizations and reports from witnesses and Pretti’s family have disputed this account, pointing out that there is no sign of Pretti drawing a gun.

In an interview with AP, Michael Pretti, his father, said:

"We had this discussion with him two weeks ago or so, you know, that go ahead and protest, but do not engage, do not do anything stupid, basically. And he said he knows that. He knew that."

Pretti was an outdoorsman and environmental activist who was a licensed gun owner, according to his family and friends. His parents said he had no criminal record and very little contact with law enforcement other than traffic tickets.
