Marissa Bode is calling out Ed Sheeran over his response to the controversy surrounding Macklemore’s removal from his Loop Tour. The Wicked star criticized the English singer for not defending Macklemore after the rapper was removed from the tour following his public support for Palestine.Marissa Bode shared her blunt reaction while addressing Ed Sheeran directly, taking aim at singer amid the dispute.View on TikTok“Ed Sheeran, my legs may not work like they used to before, but at least I have a f*****g spine. Free Palestine, b***h!”Her comments come after Macklemore faced professional consequences over his public statements and support for Palestinians. The rapper has been outspoken about the conflict in Gaza and has used his platform to criticize Israel’s actions and express support for Palestinian rights.Macklemore kicked out of Ed Sheeran’s Loop TourIn early September, during his opening set at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, Macklemore declared “Free Palestine” and performed his protest song Hind’s Hall. The remarks then garnered mixed reactions and dealt a blow to his forthcoming schedule. Robert Kraft, owner and operator of Gillette Stadium, announced that the rapper had been banned from performing at the venue. The billionaire businessman also doubled down on his decision, and issued a lengthy statement on how he ultimately decided to kick Macklemore out of the tour.“Based on Macklemore’s recent actions, material shared from the stage during Ed Sheeran’s shows in New Jersey, and a broader history of antisemitic rhetoric and imagery that we believe has been deeply offensive and hurtful to the Jewish community, we determined that his participation in the September 25th and 26th concerts at Gillette Stadium would cross that line.”He went on:“This decision is not about diminishing the suffering of innocent Palestinians or denying anyone the right to advocate on their behalf. Their pain and loss are real. But that advocacy should not come at the expense of the Jewish community or obscure the responsibility of Hamas, a United States and globally (including Canada, European Union, United Kingdom, and Japan) designated terrorist organization whose horrific actions have caused immeasurable suffering for Palestinians and Israelis alike.”Kraft continued, saying that he agrees with the Thrift Shop rapper, but he argues that having “selective information” causes further segregation.“I agree with Macklemore. Too many lives have been lost and there has been too much suffering, but only sharing selective information and ignoring the actions of Hamas is not honest and only advances more divisiveness and hate.”As of this writing, all the remaining opening acts for Ed Sheeran’s Loop Tour have dropped out in support of Macklemore. The Thinking Out Loud hitmaker also released a statement, where he said he was "not complicit" in what’s happening, adding:“I have my personal views on this devastating conflict. Just because I choose not to speak publicly, it doesn’t mean I don’t have them, and it doesn’t mean I don’t care. Nor does it mean I don’t support causes in my own, personal way.”He also clarified that Macklemore being let go wasn’t his decision, adding that he had been in talks with the promoters, activists, and Robert Kraft to “try and find a resolution for all,” but the decision was final.“Macklemore coming off tour was the promoter’s decision, it was not mine. Macklemore’s contract for the tour was with the promoter, not me. I would never let down the fans who had made plans, nor would I abandon the touring crew and the other support acts and musicians who rely on me for work and to make a living.”
