Green Street actor-turned-producer Elijah Wood, best known for playing Frodo Baggins in Peter Jackson's fantasy-adventure film franchise The Lord of the Rings, came out to protest against the recent ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) crackdown at the Sundance Film Festival.
According to Deadline, close to one hundred demonstrators, including the 44-year-old Elijah Wood, got together at 577 Main Street in Utah's Park City to raise their voice against the ongoing raids conducted by ICE and to pay a tribute to Minneapolis residents Renee Good and Alex Pretti, who were shot to death by ICE agents. After beginning his career as a child artist, Elijah Wood, who is the recipient of a Screen Actors Guild Award, said in a recent interview with Deadline:
"The folks who have been unlawfully gunned down in Minnesota — it’s awful."
He went ahead and said:
"Here we are at this film festival that is about bringing people together; it’s about telling stories from all over the world. We’re not divided here; we’re coming together."

"What's going on in this country right now is absolutely horrific. What the federal government, Trump's government, Kristi Noem, ICE - what they're doing is really the worst of the worst of humanity. And then we have the best of the best of humanity for the way people are showing up for each other."
Besides Elijah Wood and Natalie Portman, other renowned celebrities, such as Mark Ruffalo, who has always been quite vocal about his antipathy towards ICE and the Trump administration, left a comment on a post shared by National Public Radio (NPR), regarding the killing of Alex Pretti. Ruffalo said:
"Cold blooded murder on an American street of a man protecting someone he loves. Don't pretend this is okay. We have been invaded by a criminal army from within. Do not pretend this isn't dangerous or wrong."
Olivia Wilde also attended the festival wearing an "ICE OUT" pin. According to USA Today, other celebrities who condemned ICE and raised their voice against the recent ICE crackdowns include Florence Pugh, Lisa Rinna, Walton Goggins, Barbie Ferreira, Olivia Rodrigo, Angel Reese, Amanda Gorman, Meg Stalter, Jamie Lee Curtis, Jonathan Van Ness, Cynthia Nixon, Edward Norton, and others.
