New York Gov. Kathy Hochul addressed whether she would welcome an endorsement from Cardi B after Nicki Minaj attacked her on social media. On October 28, the Super Bass rapper targeted Hochul in an X post, calling her “evil.” Minaj wrote:

"Kathy Hochul is an evil woman. The Democratic Party should forfeit her seat because even if she wins, she will be of great consequence to them. Downward spiral for her. She will not escape God’s wrath. She did not denounce evil when she had the chance."

Nicki Minaj further put the New York governor on blast in two follow-up tweets. Later that day, a reporter asked Hochul for her reaction to Minaj calling her "evil." As reported by HuffPost, the Democratic politician took a swipe at the rapper, saying she should “get offline.” Hochul also advised Minaj to “stop going to Trump rallies.”

On October 29, Hochul was again asked about Minaj’s tweets during a campaign stop. According to a video posted by NBC New York, a journalist noted that people were calling on Cardi B to endorse the governor and asked whether Hochul would be open to receiving support from Nicki Minaj’s rap rival. She responded:

"You know, I don't play games in this business. This is serious and if people want to support me, they're welcome to."

Hochul went on to mention that Minaj had endorsed her when she ran for lieutenant governor. She then took aim at the Anaconda singer, saying:

"So you can ask her how she's been poisoned by Donald Trump. And so that is an issue she has to deal with and after Donald Trump and MAGA world has vanished and they go back into their dark holes where they came from, hopefully we can have a reawakening and people like her and others will realize that they were fed a vision of this country that is not what Americans feel. And so being an outlier right now, that's her choice."

Kathy Hochul concluded with a dig at the president, remarking that spending “too much time” at Trump rallies is “pretty bad for people's mental health.”

Nicki Minaj targeted Kathy Hochul over her past remarks

On Wednesday, Nicki Minaj took aim at the New York governor over her past controversial remarks. According to Billboard, Minaj reshared a clip showing Hochul’s 2024 comments:

"Black kids growing up in the Bronx who don’t even know what the word ‘computer.'"

After making the remark during a discussion about a New York computing initiative, Hochul apologized the same day, saying, “I misspoke and I regret it.” While resharing Hochul’s past remark, Nicki Minaj wrote:

"HOW MUCH MORE DO YOU NEED TO SEE & HEAR FROM THEM?!! HOW DARE YOU AS BLACK PEOPLE VOTE FOR THIS VILE WICKED CURSE OF A WOMAN? HOW DARE YOU AS CHRISTIANS?! SHE STAYS SILENT ON HARM BEING CAUSED TO THE INNOCENT & THIS IS WHAT SHE THINKS OF YOUR CHILDREN!"

In the same tweet, she urged people to vote for Hochul’s opponent, Bruce Blakeman. In another post, Nicki Minaj reshared a separate controversial remark made by Hochul in 2025 during an appearance at a predominantly Black church. Discussing inflation relief checks, the governor joked, "Don't stop by the liquor store." Reacting to the resurfaced comment, Minaj wrote:

"So not only does she keep horrible company & laugh at the demonic things her friends do behind the scenes to people who aren’t as politically powerful…Dear God, help us."

Nicki Minaj’s attack on Kathy Hochul comes just days before the midterm elections. The rapper recently traveled with Trump to Michigan, where she campaigned for Republican nominees.
