On September 23, Hayley Williams shared an Instagram story to honor her ex-husband Chad Gilbert after his death at 45. The New Found Glory guitarist passed away on September 20. Hayley Williams paid tribute to the late musician and referred to him as a ‘legend’ of the music scene. She also said that Chad taught her a lot about music."Have not known what to say or if it’s appropriate. But I feel sure now that I want to bc life is made of the paths we cross, and the reasons we cross them are infinite. Chad is indeed a legend in the scene and my time connected to him taught me a lot. He introduced me to people that continue to shape my life in beautiful ways, and to music and culture that has made life a lot richer,” Hayley Williams wrote.She went on to say that Chad Gilbert’s influence guided the genre of pop-punk forward. She also sent her love to his family and fans. The Stay The Night vocalist wrote:“There isn’t much that hasn’t already been said about what he contributed to the musical world a lot of us grew up in. His influence and attitude guided the genre forward. His passion for fostering the community was inspiring and sticks with me. I will forever be grateful that from him I gained a deeper understanding and a reverence for the community and the culture of hardcore. A few years after dating, the late guitarist proposed to Hayley in 2014. The couple tied the knot in February 2016 at the Franklin Theatre in Nashville. Just 16 months into their marriage, the duo revealed their separation in July 2017.After parting ways with Hayley, Chad married Lisa Cimorelli in October 2020.Lisa announced the passing of her husband, Chad Gilbert. In the statement, Cimorelli shared that the New Found Glory member died in his sleep, surrounded by his family. Although Gilbert’s cause of death hasn’t been revealed yet, he was reportedly struggling with rare adrenal cancer at the time of his death.
