Corey Feldman shared mixed feelings about missing the Academy Awards tribute honoring Rob Reiner, saying the moment initially stung before he shifted focus to mourning the director's death alongside his former Stand By Me castmates.
The veteran actor sat down for an exclusive interview with Entertainment Weekly, along with Jerry O'Connell and Wil Wheaton, in connection with the promotion of a re-release of the 1986 film for its 40th anniversary.
During the exclusive interview, Corey Feldman reacted to the recent Oscar Awards, which happened last Mar. 15, where 17 stars of Rob Reiner's past works appeared onstage to honor their director.

"I think Jerry and Wil did what had to be done. It was a fleeting moment, so I don't feel like I missed much at all. I personally was probably maybe a little bothered by the fact that nobody got to speak or do or say anything from their own heart."
Feldman added:
"Although they did a wonderful job, I would've liked to have heard from Wil and Jerry and a few other people up there."
Corey Feldman was among the child actors who headlined the 1986 coming-of-age movie, helmed by Rob Reiner. The late River Phoenix was also part of the main cast.

Feldman confided in EW that he thinks that he never got the chance to say goodbye to Rob Reiner.
"We all would've loved to be able to say goodbye in our own ways. Unfortunately, that didn't happen. The best way we can say goodbye is honoring him and his work and his film through these tours that we're doing and these interviews and getting people to take the moment and time to acknowledge the history of his work and art that he created, and hopefully going out there to celebrate him one last time on a big screen where it deserves to be seen."
Corey Feldman says the Oscars tribute to Rob Reiner felt "like a family reunion I wasn't invited to"
Corey Feldman further said that "it is what it is," and resigned to simply praise the Academy for honoring the legendary director.

Nevertheless, he admitted:
"Personally, it felt a little bit like a family reunion I wasn't invited to, but we're not going to use this time to go into my feeling about that. Instead I just want to say that I'm with the rest of us, we're all very destroyed that things went down the way they did, losing Rob when we all thought he'd be joining us at some point for this tour and it's a tragedy."
Actor-director Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele, were found lifeless at their Los Angeles home on Dec. 14, 2025. Later, their son Nick Reiner was arrested on suspicion of murder charges.
As of now, Nick is charged with two counts of murder with the special circumstance of multiple murders.
