This comes over seven months after Savannah Guthrie's mother, Nancy Guthrie, was allegedly kidnapped from her home.Moreover, the sets also witnessed a case of an intruder in July. A man named Andrew Truelove entered the set on July 16 after getting past the security guards. He asked an anchor named Craig Melvin about his co-host Al Roker's whereabouts. Truelove then allegedly called Melvin slurs before the latter informed security, and the intruder was caught. Security has now been increased at 30 Rockefeller Center, and one insider told Page Six:“It’s a relief. It was much-needed and took longer than people would have liked, but it does feel a lot better now.”At times, heightened security measures and protocols are seen as an inconvenience. However, another insider claimed that the Today Show staff are happy, saying:“Staffers are more than willing to oblige with the new protocols. It hasn’t been seen as a [burden.]”Savannah Guthrie, meanwhile, has been the co-anchor on Today's morning show since 2012. She took a two-month break after her mother, Nancy, disappeared in February.
