Lucy Liu is opening up about motherhood. The actress, 57, spoke to People Magazine about how her son, Rockwell Lloyd, "does not know how cool" she is. Lucy welcomed her 10-year-old via surrogacy in 2015. "But he knows that I can make a killer piece of chicken, and I can heat up a nice lasagna," Liu quipped. "You know, basic mom stuff."She went on, referring to her 2024 holiday movie: "I think the first thing he's ever seen — and probably the only thing he's ever seen — live-action-wise is Red One. He was 9, and he was probably just a little bit under the gun to watch that. But now, after he's gotten over some of the scary creatures, he really loves it." Lucy Liu's journey as a mother explored: During her conversation with People Magazine, Lucy Liu expressed her hopes that her son would one day be "proud" of her."I love him dearly. He is my greatest teacher. I say that all the time because I've never learned so much in such a short period of time," she said of her parenting journey. And I thought I knew it all when I was 16. Wow! What's happening?" The actress, who celebrated her birthday just days ago, stars in Rosemead, a drama with a limited theatrical release in New York on December 5. Born in Queens, New York, Lucy Liu, whose parents are Chinese, spoke to USA Today about her upbringing: "I thought about myself as a child, watching my parents and understanding that there was so much I didn't receive because they were so unable to express themselves in a fluent way," she said, adding that she "had to unlearn not just behavior, but that cultural system of just keep taking the condescension, the racial slurs." Back in 2023, Lucy Liu told The Cut that she "didn't have a plan" when it came to expanding her family. "I didn't mull it over too much. I didn't do a lot of research, I just pulled the trigger," she explained. "A lot of people read books about parenting. I didn't do any of that. I was like, 'When the child is here, I'm just going to figure it out.' "Over the years, the actress has shared glimpses of her motherhood on social media. Back in May last year, she shared a photo of her son and herself at the White House for AANHPI Heritage Month. Her son witnessed her as she introduced then-incumbent President Joe Biden.
