The Longest Weekend star-turned-film director, Olivia Wilde, who was previously married to Italian documentarian and feature filmmaker Tao Ruspoli, recently opened up about a vulnerable moment when she was served legal documents regarding child custody while she was on stage at CinemaCon in 2022, as per People.
The 42-year-old Olivia Wilde, who made her directorial debut with the comedy flick Booksmart, talked about the emotional and distressing moment after being served legal papers by her former partner Jason Sudeikis on Alex Cooper's Call Her Daddy podcast on June 17, 2026.
According to Brides, Olivia Wilde, who got engaged to the Hall Pass actor-turned-screenwriter, Jason Sudeikis, in 2012, shares two children: a son, Otis, and a daughter, Daisy, with him.
As cited by People, while talking to Alex Cooper about her mental state and how traumatizing it was being served those legal papers sent by Sudeikis on stage, Olivia Wilde said:
"I will never forget, one of the most f---ed up things that I went through — among so many — was that I was served papers on stage. It was incredibly traumatizing."
As Olivia Wilde shared that she was there at the CinemaCon to promote her second directorial project, the Florence Pugh starrer thriller Don't Worry Darling, she went ahead and described her awful experience on stage after receiving the legal papers, and said:
"There's the feeling of being on stage, you know, like, that is a vulnerable feeling. Also, that room couldn't have been higher stress. The people in that room at CinemaCon are… it's all the studio people. So it's all the people you were trying to, like, impress the most with your work and all the exhibitors, the people at the movie theaters, the people you need to sell your movies, and all the press."
Wilde continued:
"And it was like, I cannot f—ing believe this is happening to me here. And yet, you know, the crazy thing is, like, once you make it through things like that, you kinda feel like you can make it through anything."
She further added:
"I remember, like, a couple months later, I met Tom Cruise. He was like, 'Hi, I'm Tom. F---ed up what happened to you in Vegas.' And I was like, 'No!'"
Olivia Wilde and Jason Sudeikis have a strong co-parenting relationship

Ending their engagement in 2020, Wilde and Sudeikis went their separate ways in life, but they continue to share a resilient bond when it comes to co-parenting and taking care of their children. Olivia noted:
"You can create a dynamic that allows that kid to have the maximum amount of love. I mean, we are great f---ing co-parents. These kids are consistently getting the best of us in a way that when we were together was not possible because we did not work together, but we work really well as separated co-parents."
