On July 13, Nicole Kidman honored her late co-star Sam Neill following his death at 78. The star, who played Dr. Alan Grant for Jurassic Park franchise, died in Sydney, Australia. For those unaware, Nicole and Sam co-starred in the Australian psychological thriller, titled Dead Calm, which was released in 1989. The actress remembered Sam after his death. As per the Sydney Morning Herald, she said:

“Sam was one of the greats, a joy to be around,”

Nicole Kidman shared how she met and became friends with Neill when she was 18.

“We met when I was just 18 and he took me under his wing and we stayed friends for life. He was charming, kind, funny and intelligent. He will be greatly missed, and my heart goes out to his family.” she added.

Cillian Murphy, Laura Dern, and more stars paid tribute to Sam Neill

Cillian Murphy talked about his Peaky Blinders co-star following his death. While Cillian played Tommy Shelby, Sam portrayed Chester Campbell in the show. As per Deadline, the actor remembered Neill for being warm and funny. Cillian Murphy said:

“Like everyone who knew and worked with Sam, I admired him and adored him in equal measure. He was one of the kindest, funniest and gentlest people, and one of the finest actors. RIP.”

Laura Dern, who also played a role in Jurassic Park, remembered Sam Neill and dubbed him her ‘lifetime’ friend. She also praised him as a noble gentleman. She said:

"Sam was my beloved lifetime friend… He showed me the depths of loyalty, protectiveness and love always with the driest of wit. A true and noble gentleman, who was wrapped up in my dream leading man. I will love you forever, Dr. Alan Grant.”

Sam’s Jurassic Park co-actor, Jeff Goldblum, also honored him.

In 2023, the late actor shared that he had a rare type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma called angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma.
