Joy-Anna Duggar has been making headlines recently, as the 19 Kids and Counting alum opened up about her marriage to husband Austin Forsyth, including the age gap between them. Joy-Anna, who is now twenty-eight years old, made the revelation during her appearance on the Wednesday, August nineteenth episode of The Jinger and Jeremy Podcast, hosted by her sister Jinger Duggar and brother-in-law Jeremy Vuolo. The two had actually known each other since they were children.

"We actually met when we were really young," she said.
"I was four and he was eight when they moved up from Texas," she added.

Their paths didn't cross very often after that, though. Joy-Anna admitted she had been "crushing hard" on Austin Forsyth, who is now thirty-two years old, when she was fourteen and he was eighteen. The couple tied the knot on May 26, 2017. They now share three kids together, Gideon, Evelyn, and Gunner, who arrived in May 2023. Joy-Anna also experienced a pregnancy loss in 2019 at twenty weeks, with her daughter Annabell.

Joy-Anna Duggar admits she would have married Austin Forsyth from day one:

During the same podcast episode, Jinger, who is thirty-two years old, noted that while she and Jeremy Vuolo, who is thirty-eight years old, actually have a larger age gap than Joy-Anna and Austin Forsyth, Joy-Anna and Austin's gap felt "a little bit more significant" because of how young they were when they got married.

"I always think you and Austin are further apart in age than you are, just because I remember you being so young," Jinger explained.

Joy-Anna, however, had no hesitations about the relationship.

"I would have married him from day one," she said.

She then opened up about what her mindset was like during their courtship and engagement.

"I don't think when we were dating and engaged, I didn't think past 'we're going to have a farmhouse and we're going to live happily ever after,'" Joy-Anna shared.
"I didn't think past like, 'I know he's the one. It's going to work out. Everything's going to be fine.' So there was a lot that surprised me," she added.

What Joy-Anna Duggar has shared about Austin Forsyth's career and passions:

Away from the headlines, Austin Forsyth keeps himself busy in more ways than one. He works as a contractor, and over the past couple of years has moved away from renovating flip houses toward building new homes from the ground up. Construction aside, Forsyth is also an EMT and firefighter. Joy-Anna described her husband on The Duggar Family website, writing,

"When he is not busy doing construction work or spending time with family, you can usually find him on the farm, bailing hay, or using one of his many skills as a Pilot or EMT/Firefighter."

She also noted that Forsyth has a passion for investing in young men's lives, passing down the same skills his own father taught him. His hobbies include long range shooting, four-wheeling and camping. Joy-Anna herself grew up with eight brothers and has always leaned toward the outdoors over anything else. The couple regularly work together on home remodel projects. As per the same profile, Joy-Anna shared,

"Becoming a mom has been such a fun adventure, and I absolutely love the life we have together!"

Joy-Anna Duggar and Austin Forsyth opened up about the loss of their daughter Annabell:

Back in 2019, Joy-Anna Duggar and Austin Forsyth shared the devastating news of their pregnancy loss on their joint Instagram account. The couple posted a somber black-and-white photo of themselves resting together on a hospital bed. Joy-Anna revealed that they had learned of the loss during their twenty-week ultrasound, which was also meant to be their gender reveal appointment.

"Today marks one week since we heard these words… 'So this is your baby's heart (pointing to the ultrasound screen). I don't hear a heartbeat or see any movement,'" Joy-Anna began.
"It was a baby girl," she revealed.

The couple had already chosen a name for their daughter. Joy-Anna shared that they had decided on Annabell Elise, explaining the meaning behind both names.

"Annabell means 'God has favored me,' and Elise means 'God satisfies.' What a precious thing to know that when our daughter opened her eyes, the first thing she saw was the face of Jesus," she wrote.

Despite the heartbreak, Joy-Anna shared that she and Austin Forsyth were doing better than expected.

"Although we don't understand why, God has given us unexplainable peace and comfort during this very difficult time. Yes, it still hurts and we have cried countless tears, but we know that we can trust the Lord," she said.

Joy-Anna also drew on scripture, referencing King David's words after his own loss.

"In the words of King David after the loss of his baby, 'I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me' (2 Sam 12:23). We don't grieve as those who have no hope because we trust that we will see this little one again," she added.

As per a report shared by People, Joy-Anna concluded her post by quoting Fanny Crosby.

"All the way my Savior leads me; What have I to ask beside? Can I doubt His tender mercy, Who through life has been my Guide? Heavenly peace, divinest comfort, Here by faith in Him to dwell!"

She asked her followers for continued prayers as well.

"Please pray for continued healing, not only physically but for our hearts as well," Joy-Anna shared.
