Mike Tyson has opened up about death and being alive while many of his peers have died. He also opened up about whether being successful means that he would go to heaven or hell.

Netflix is set to release a new four-part docuseries called TYSON based on Mike Tyson's life. It will showcase aspects of his personal and professional life and will be released on October 13. The legendary boxer has been doing a press tour for it and appeared on an episode of Piers Morgan Uncensored, released on Thursday, October 8.

During the interview, Piers Morgan asked Tyson how he felt about death and being here when other legends like Michael Jackson are gone. The 60-year-old said:

"I don't know. I think sometimes maybe I've lived too long. You know, a lot of my, a lot of people I love are not here anymore."

When asked if he fears death, Tyson answered:

"No. I don't know if I fear that, but I even know I'm not afraid of it. You know, from that perspective, I don't; I know it's gonna happen, and there's nothing I can do but embrace it."

Piers Morgan then asked Tyson if he believed in God, and the latter replied yes. The British journalist then asked whether he believed he would go to heaven because of his success. The former world champion answered:

"Listen, there are so many other people with massive success that they weren't good people. All successful people, all great people, and not good people. You can't claim that because I'm successful, I'm gonna go to heaven. That's not true. You could be a successful sociopath."

When asked if he believed he was a good person, Mike Tyson replied that underneath everything, he believes he is a "decent human being."

The first episode of TYSON focuses on Mike Tyson's troubled childhood, which also saw him getting arrested 38 times by the time he turned 13. At a juvenile detention center, he then joined a boxing class under Cus D'Amato.

Tyson later trained at D'Amato's gym in Catskill, New York, and stayed at his home. The latter also became his legal guardian. In an interview with PEOPLE, he remembered the late coach and said:

“He gave me confidence. He gave me character. He made me believe in myself and what I could do. To give a young boy confidence is a very important thing to do. It tells them that they’re good, they’re OK. I think everyone could relate to the importance of that.”
“Everything was always positive with Cus. He’d tell me when I was getting good. Even that I was getting handsome. All positive things. He also wanted me to be myself. If I tried to be anyone else, he’d call me a phony. He made me want to be a champion," he added.

D'Amato died at 77 in 1985. Mike Tyson said that had he been alive, he would have protected him from all the betrayals and disappointments he faced in his career from friends, promoters, managers, etc.
