Felix Kjellberg, famously known as PewDiePie, recently disclosed that he and his spouse, Marzia Kjellberg, will officially end their family vlog series later this year. The creator, who has been creating content since 2010 and family vlogging for almost four years now, has revealed his decision. In a recent vlog that covered April and May of 2026, the content creator provided an update, stating that their desire to give their son Björn more privacy away from the internet and his growing age played a major role in the decision.PieDiePie's son Björn will turn three in July 2026. He is currently two years old. Felix claims that the couple's choice to discontinue their regular family-focused vlogs was largely influenced by Björn reaching that age. Felix said:"I have somewhat bad news. Me and Marzia announced on our blog post already that we have decided... that we are going to end the vlogs in September."He went on to add:"But now Björn is turning 3 in July, and we've decided that we'll be ending the vlogs in September. I wanted to share this now so it doesn't come as a surprise."PewDiePie stated towards the end of his most recent YouTube video that he and Marzia want their son to grow up away from the spotlight and ultimately make his own decision about whether or not to go online:"The main reason is that we want Björn to grow up outside of the internet and enjoy life on his own terms."Additionally, he made it clear that they would support Björn's decision to appear in videos in the future. But when he gets older, the pair believes he should have the final say:"If one day he wants to be part of my videos, I would never stop him, but I think that choice should be his."When did PewDiePie's Japan vlog start?PewDiePie started the vlog series almost four years ago as a simple way to document his and Marzia's move to Japan. The couple had only a few videos prepared at the time, which would document their adjustment to living in an unfamiliar land. PieDewPie stated:"We started them before moving to Japan, almost four years ago... And we thought we could just uh share what it's like to transition to this new country. And that was it. Maybe one or two, you know, but the outpouring love, and support made us really, really want to continue doing the vlogs."He added that over time, the overwhelming response from viewers encouraged them to continue the series much longer than initially planned. Over time, the vlogs turned into calmer, family-focused content that includes his special moments with Marzia and Björn in Japan doing family activities:"We feel like he's so part of our lives that continuing the vlogs will mean that Björn will be part of the vlogs. I think we feel like it will just be too much part of my channel, Björn will just be too much part of my, uh, sort of thing. If he wants to be part of the... that should be his choice later."PewDiePie made it apparent that he is not completely retiring from YouTube despite the announcement. The monthly Japan and family vlog will end in September 2026, as stated by PewDiePie. Though the creator may still share updates about his family through social media. The couple's decision to create healthier boundaries for their son has been praised by many internet users.Stay tuned to Soap Central for more information.
