After Maddox, Zahara, and Shiloh, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's youngest daughter, Vivienne, drops Pitt from her last name, keeping only Jolie. According to People, Vivienne Jolie, who turned eighteen on July 12, 2026, filed a petition to drop Pitt from her last name in the same month.
As cited by People, while Maddox and Zahara dropped Brad Pitt's last name this year, and Shiloh did so in 2024, a judge in California approved the change from Vivienne Marcheline Jolie-Pitt to Vivienne Marcheline Jolie on November 2, 2026. The children's decisions to drop Brad Pitt's last name come ten years after a reported family incident that took place on a private jet.
As cited by People, according to certain sources, the Fight Club star Brad Pitt allegedly verbally abused one of his kids on September 14, 2016. However, while the LA County Department of Children and Family Services stated that there was no evidence of abuse against him, the FBI exonerated the Heart of the Beast actor too.
According to court documents, as reviewed by Page Six, Vivienne Jolie cited "personal" reasons for wanting to get rid of Pitt from her last name. As per Page Six, Judge Virginia Keeny at LA's Stanley Mosk Courthouse on November 2, regarding the name change petition, said:
"There being no objections, the petition for change of name is granted. The Decree is signed and filed. The Petitioner’s name is changed from Vivienne Marcheline Jolie-Pitt to Vivienne Marcheline Jolie."
As Vivienne Jolie drops the Pitt from her last name, a source close to Brad Pitt revealed the situation between him and his children is a "tragedy"

While Vivienne Jolie successfully dropped her father's last name from her name after turning eighteen, according to People, a source close to the Ad Astra star, Brad Pitt, revealed in September 2026 that there had not been much communication lately between Brad and his children, referring to their current situation as a "tragedy". The source said:
"This is the result of a prolonged campaign of alienation of children against their parent. It’s an incredibly sad reality, but it’s not surprising after years of one parent weaponizing the children against the other one with no regard for the consequence."
