How was Vincent Pastore's death discovered? Inside the events leading to the Sopranos star's passing at 80

Vincent Pastore was found dead at his home in the Bronx, New York, after a concerned neighbor checked on him when they had not heard from him for several days.

According to reports, the neighbor discovered the actor's body on Saturday, Aug. 1, prompting authorities to respond to the residence.

Representatives for Vincent Pastore later confirmed his death, while his longtime manager, Robert Altman, said the actor died at home.

As of writing, the exact cause and circumstances of The Sopranos star's death have not been announced. As of now, investigations on the case are ongoing, and there is no information that has been provided by the officials.

Furthermore, the actor himself had prostate cancer back in 2014, but fortunately, he managed to recover from it through surgery and 40 sessions of radiation treatment.

Pastore was best known for portraying Salvatore "Big Pussy" Bonpensiero in the popular TV crime series The Sopranos. He played Tony Soprano's best friend, and this role made Pastore famous. It can be considered the most memorable role of his acting career.

Following the death of the actor, several people paid tribute to him for his contribution to TV as well as his continued presence among the audience through the character of Big Pussy.

Edie Falco, who starred as Carmela Soprano in the hit mafia series, paid tribute to Vincent Pastore in an official statement to Page Six, writing:

"It's an awful loss. So unexpected."

She added:

"Vinnie was always so full of life."

On her Instagram Stories, Lorraine Bracco, who played Jennifer Melfi, described Pastore's passing as "absolutely heartbreaking." She also called him "a funny and charming man" and a "beautiful soul."

Dominic Chianese, who starred as Corrado "Junior" Soprano in the series, took to his social media page to announce:

"We lost a friend today. Paying respect and sending Love in tribute. You were a gem Vinnie."

Michael Imperioli, who starred as Christopher Moltisanti on the HBO show, described the late star as a "beloved friend and collaborator." He took to his social media, mourning Vincent Pastore's loss, writing:

"This is a hard one for us; it seems like I've known Vinny forever. We did lots of work together and traveled all over the USA as well as Italy and Australia. Lots of good times. Lots of laughs. Vinny was a kind-hearted brother who cared deeply about his family and friends. I will miss him always."
