On September 18, Donald Trump announced the White House ban on three news outlets, CNN, MS NOW, and Politico. In his new Truth Social post, the POTUS accused these outlets of spreading ‘fake news’ and said that the ban will be ‘effective immediately.’President Trump wrote:“I am proud to announce that, effective immediately, I am banning Fake News CNN, MSNOW (who recently changed their name from MSNBC due to lack of viewership and credibility!), and Politico (The recipients of an illegal and ridiculous $8 Million Dollar subscription, an All Time Record, directly from the United States Government, under Crooked Joe Biden, in order to keep them "alive." Seems like corruption to me!), from the White House as a result of their constant "reporting" FAKE NEWS!”Donald Trump went on to say that media outlets shouldn’t write or report ‘fiction’ and ‘lies’ when talking about the president. Lastly, he said that more ‘fake news’ outlets will be added to the list later on.“Media Outlets shouldn't be able to constantly write or report FICTION and LIES when they're covering the President of the United States, the Trump Administration, or the United States of America. Other Fake News Media Outlets to follow.”CNN responded to Donald Trump’s White House ban announcementCNN released the statement after the president announced the ban on them. The media house showed support for their White House team and its reporting. They called this ban an ‘illegal assault’ on their Constitutional right.“CNN stands fully behind our White House team and their fair and accurate reporting. We have a right under the U.S. Constitution to do that reporting without hindrance or interference from the government. Should the ban, which President Trump threatened, go ahead, it would be an illegal assault on that fundamental and constitutionally-protected right.”Popular journalist Piers Morgan also voiced his discontent with Donald Trump’s new ban, calling it a ‘bad’ decision. He further said that banning the media goes against ‘free speech,’ as it is not the media’s responsibility to provide endless praise to the president.“Banning them is a suppression of free speech and unconstitutional.”This isn’t the first time Trump targeted CNN. In his previous posts, he referred to the outlet as a fake news source. He even slammed The New York Times in the past.
