View this post on Instagram Instagram Post3 million documents, 2000 videos and 180,000 images related to the investigation into the infamous American financier Jeffrey Epstein were made public by the U.S. Department of Justice on Friday. The documents that were made public contained information such as FBI tips, emails, and reports that were archived. Within one FBI crisis intake report, an anonymous victim claimed she had been drugged and raped on several occasions in the past, and identified Pusha T as one of her “handlers.” The same report also states that the victim awoke in a room with Harvey Weinstein and Jay-Z at one time. It is made clear that the victim’s memory was foggy since she had been drugged. The files primarily mention unconfirmed accusations and hearsay that law enforcement has not yet verified. Despite the accusations being unfounded, 50 Cent was quick to capitalize on the moment. In response to the legendary rapper being named, 50 Cent took to his Instagram, where he posted photos of Jay-Z and wrote:"Damn they got ya man jay in the Epstein files, I gotta do a doc on this sh!t !"He had even mentioned his FAST(Free Ad-Supported Streaming television) channel in the caption. This quickly had the internet in a frenzy, given his recent role as a producer on a Netflix documentary about Sean “Diddy” Combs.History of tension between Jay-Z and 50 CentSCREAMFEST '07 - Source: GettyThe long and complex history between the two iconic rappers lends additional weight to the statement made by 50. As both became well-known in New York's rap scene in the late 1990s, their rivalry began with lyrical jabs and industry rivalry.50 Cent had dissed a bunch of rappers, which included the Roc A Fella Records founder. Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, fired back by responding to the diss in his song It’s Hot (Some Like It Hot), in the same year, where he rapped:“I’m about a dollar / What the f—is 50 Cent?”Years later, when asked about Carter's diss response, 50 told Rolling Stones:“When he responded, I was complimented. He wouldn’t say nothing back to somebody he didn’t think was hot. I never went to radio until after he said that about me. I don’t know if my career would be where it’s at if he didn’t respond.”For the next couple of years, they collaborated and even featured in an ad together. The two rappers partnered in a commercial for Reebok. Then in 2007, 50 Cent teamed up with Jay-Z and Diddy for the remix of “I Get Money.” Then came 2008, and in an interview at the time, 50 Cent took another shot at Shawn Carter by saying that “no one really knew” who he was until the rapper married Beyoncé. In 2011, in an interview with MTV News, he stated that his relationship with Carter was strictly business. He said:“We don’t have those kinds of relationships. These people are people I associate with. We are in the same business. We are not necessarily friends. We don’t call each other for no reason.”He added:“It’s not like we have something against each other to make us enemies. Me and Jay will use each other. Repeatedly. For energy.”In 2013, Jay-Z looked back on the start of 50 Cent’s career, telling the story on “The Breakfast Club” that he told other artists the “Candy Shop” rapper was “coming.” The Empire State of Mind hitmaker said:“Four months later, ‘In Da Club’ hit and it was over. It was like, OK, now everybody gotta sit on the sidelines and wait this tidal wave out.”Later, in 2017, 50 Cent shot back after Jay-Z dropped his 4:44 album, with 50 Cent saying it was “golf course music” in a deleted Instagram video. He wrote:“I listened to Jay sh–, that 4:44. I thought the sh– was aight. I liked the sh–, but I’m gonna keep it 100: the sh– was too smart. I felt like I was supposed to be wearing glasses and tie a f—ing sweater around my waist. It was like Ivy League sh–.”50 also stated that Jay did not want to and attempted to prevent him from performing with Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar, Mary J. Blige, and Eminem at the 2022 Super Bowl Halftime Show. They later let him, as Eminem would not perform without him. After Jay-Z faced rape allegations in 2024, 50 Cent again took a swing by joking about the Super Bowl halftime show, which has been overseen since 2019 by Roc Nation, the American entertainment company founded by Carter under its NFL partnership:“Ok I don’t know what’s going on, but are we gonna still have the Super Bowl. I’m just asking for a friend.”The reference to the Epstein file follows Jay-Z's recent public attention, which included a sexual assault case that was eventually dropped. Jay-Z has publicly denounced what he characterizes as reckless narratives that affect his family and has continuously refuted all accusations. As of now, neither the legendary rapper nor his representatives have responded to 50 Cent's comment.Stay tuned to Soap Central for more information.
