On September 30, Macklemore shared a post on his social media saying that all three shows of his ‘Free Palestine’ tour sold out immediately after the ticket window opened. The rapper announced his tour on September 24 and the general ticket sales kicked off earlier today. In his post, the rapper wrote:“All three shows sold out immediately. I'm honestly blown away. We put these shows together fast and in community, believing that musicians can stand in solidarity with Palestine, use the stage to raise funds and show what collective action can look like. In his post, he also confirmed that more shows will be added to his ‘Free Palestine’ tour to raise more funds for Palestinian cause. He added:“Dublin, Paris and London, thank you for showing up the way you did. The response to these shows is another reminder of how many people across the world are standing together for a free Palestine. Lineups coming soon.”Macklemore announced his tour for three locationsAs of this writing, the rapper has planned only three locations, namely Paris, London, and Dublin. Macklemore came up with his own tour after he was removed from Ed Sheeran’s tour on September 14. He was removed after his ‘Free Palestine’ chants and onstage support calls for people of Gaza and the West Bank during his opening performances in New Jersey.The Thrift Shop singer faced criticism both from offline and online audiences. Therefore, he was removed by promoters from Sheeran’s Loop Tour. Promoters further claimed that the venue owners of the remaining shows forced them to remove Macklemore.Robert Kraft, the owner of Gillette Stadium, also favored the rapper’s exit. He said that he won’t let his stage be used for any ‘hate’ speech.Ed Sheeran, on the other hand, claimed that he tried to bridge resolution between the two parties but promoters had final say on the rapper’s exit. Further, to show support for Palestine and Macklemore, Finneas, Beoga, and all other guest acts of Sheeran’s tour pulled out.The rapper has urged other artists to come and join him on his ‘Free Palestine’ tour if they want to support people of Palestine. The proceeds of these shows will be given to organizations working for Palestinians.
