After Jaden Ivey was released from the Chicago Bulls on Monday, post his controversial anti-LGBTQ comments, fellow Chicago Bulls player Josh Giddey said he hopes Ivey gets the help he needs. On Monday, after the Bulls lost to the San Antonio Spurs, Josh Giddey, while speaking to Chicago Sun Times' Joe Cowley, said,"He’s a very talented player. Obviously, the whole thing is kind of unfortunate in a way. I hope he gets the help he needs, whatever he’s going through or not going through. I do really hope he gets help. It’s not going to be with the Bulls anymore, but wherever it is, I hope he gets it.”Chicago Bulls coach Billy Donovan, during a press conference, addressed Jaden's remarks and the decision to release him, saying,“I think there’s a certain level of standards and expectations that are here. I mean, we have people from all different walks of life working in the building and players from all different walks of life, right? So, the first thing is, everybody comes with their own personal experiences. But one is, we’ve got to all be professional."What were Jaden Ivey's controversial commentsJaden Ivey had been going live on his Instagram channel several times last week. In one of the livestreams, Ivey questioned the NBA's decision to celebrate Pride Month,"The world proclaims LGBTQ, right? They proclaim Pride Month and the NBA does, too. They show it to the world. They say, 'Come join us for Pride Month to celebrate unrighteousness.' They proclaim it on the billboards. They proclaim it on the streets. Unrighteousness. So how is it that one can speak, how are they to say that, man this man is crazy."Following his comments, the Chicago Bulls waived off the player citing "conduct detrimental to the team." After being waived off, Ivey, in another livestream on March 30, questioned the reason cited and said,"(The Bulls] said my conduct is detrimental to the team," he said. "Why didn't they just say, 'We don't agree with his stance on LGBTQ'? Why didn't they say that? ... How is it conduct detrimental to the team? What did I do to the team? What did I do to the players?"Jaden then accused the NBA of lying and urged people to question the coaches about his conduct with the team. Jaden was acquired by the Bulls during a trade with the Detroit Pistons. He had only played four games for the Bulls before being released.
