Link Lauren recently cited Donald Trump's relationship with Zohran Mamdani, comparing the NYC mayor to James Talarico. He said that the POTUS "likes stars" and might work well with the Democratic Talarico.

James Talarico registered a historic win in Texas during the midterm elections. He became the first Democrat to win in the state since 1988. He is now the Senator-elect, as he beat Republican Ken Paxton and others. He will be sworn in in January 2027.

Following his win, political commentator Link Lauren shared his thoughts on Talarico's potential relationship with Donald Trump. He wrote on X (formerly Twitter):

"I have a hunch President Trump will forge a sort of friendship with Talarico. Like he’s done with Mamdani. The president likes stars… and he likes winners. Ken Paxton and Ramaswamy especially have the loser stench after last night. We probably won’t hear from them again on a national level."

Zohran Mamdani was elected New York City Mayor last year and was sworn in in January 2026. He and Donald Trump have clashed numerous times in the media on various policies and topics. However, they have also had some friendly banter at times.

Meanwhile, James Talarico recently spoke about wanting to work with the POTUS if he won the midterm elections. On an episode of The Diary of a CEO podcast, released on November 2, he said:

"I would love, as the next U.S. senator from Texas, to work with Donald Trump to actually fulfill some of the promise of his political project."

He said that they could work together for "the people who have been left behind, the people who have been forgotten in this country."

Zohran Mamdani shares his thoughts on midterm elections as the likes of James Talarico & Abdul El-Sayed beat Donald Trump & the Republicans

The Democrats delivered an emphatic victory in the midterm elections. While James Talarico historically flipped Texas, Abdul El-Sayed became the first Muslim to be elected as a senator, having won in Michigan.

After the elections, New York City mayor Zohran Mamdani gave a press conference and said (h/t Rediff):

"It was incredible to see the blue wave. This referendum was on politicians telling working people that their needs were unrealistic, while those same politicians were willing to do whatever it is that the wealthiest people in the country would ask them to do."
"And I think this election is also a referendum on (Vice President) J D Vance asking for two more years to deliver on the things that Americans cannot afford even another day of delay on," he added.

Zohran Mamdani referenced JD Vance's two-year plan and said that Americans cannot afford to wait that long. He added that people have to pay for rent, childcare, and groceries, among other things. Hence, they cannot wait two years for things to get better.

He added that "we need to understand the urgency of delivering for those same Americans who have entrusted us with this power." He further slammed "politicians who have been bought by the wealthiest people in the country."
