James Ransone's widow has spoken out after the late actor was left out of the Emmy Awards' In Memoriam segment. Jamie McPhee took to Instagram Stories to share her disappointment, a day after the Monday, September 14 ceremony aired. McPhee had first addressed the omission on the night of the broadcast itself. As per a report shared by Entertainment Weekly, she revealed that Ransone, who was known for his work on HBO's The Wire and Generation Kill, had also been left out of the Oscars' In Memoriam earlier in the year. Ransone passed away in December 2025. He was forty-six years old."My husband James Ransone was not acknowledged in memoriam at tonight's Emmys. He was also not at the Oscars earlier this year," shared McPhee.She followed that up with another post on Tuesday, September 15, writing,"I didn't watch the Emmys, so I only now understand how much of a snub this truly was. I am incredibly disappointed @televisionacad. James Ransone was an incredibly gifted actor and it simply is not right to not acknowledge him and his work."McPhee also painted a picture of who her husband was, sharing,"PJ was impossible, loveable, intolerable and incredible -- depends on who you ask. But without question -- he was a great actor. But good news is PJ wouldn't care. Back in May, she marked their son Jack's seventh birthday with a candid Instagram post that offered a glimpse into single parenting after Ransone's passing. Many of the pictures she shared included him."Baby king Jack is 7 today. I can't believe it. The most handsome, stubborn, funny, affectionate, strong boy and we wouldn't want it any other way. As per a report shared by BBC, the Los Angeles Medical Examiner confirmed on its website that he died by suicide on December 19, 2025. The Wire star Wendell Pierce took to social media with a tribute shortly after the news broke."Sorry I couldn't be there for you, brother. Rest in Peace James Ransone," Pierce wrote.Spike Lee, who had collaborated with Ransone on Red Hook Summer and Inside Man, posted on Instagram."Rest In Peace to my dear brother James Ransone," Lee shared.
