Right-wing political commentator Laura Loomer weighed in on a report claiming that the Trump administration is seeking to rescind Rep. Ilhan Omar’s citizenship and deport her. After Homeland Security Investigations raided a Democratic congresswoman's DC home on Monday, the Wall Street Journal, citing US officials, reported on Wednesday that part of the ongoing investigation into Omar is focused on probing how she obtained her citizenship after coming to America from Somalia. The Trump administration has repeatedly accused Omar of immigration fraud. The WSJ report said that the ongoing investigation centers on paperwork completed by Omar's late father and whether her age was recorded as 17 instead of 18 for purposes of obtaining automatic citizenship. As the report made the rounds on the internet, Laura Loomer reacted to it via an X post, commenting:"I’m throwing a party when it happens."Loomer often targets Ilhan Omar in her social media commentary and demands her deportation. Earlier on Monday, as news of the raid on the Minnesota congresswoman's home surfaced online, Laura Loomer celebrated the development and posted on X:"Immigration officials with DHS raided jihadist Congresswoman Ilhan Omar’s home this morning. She is being investigated for immigration fraud after marrying her brother. This is what I voted for! Deport her back to Somalia!"The conservative political activist went on to mock Ilhan Omar's response to the raid. Following the action by HSI agents, Omar took to X and wrote that it was an attempt by the current federal government to "target political enemies." Loomer reacted to the Minnesota representative's post and questioned:"Did they grab you by your hijab and say this is MAGA country??"Authorities have reportedly subpoenaed Ilhan Omar's relatives in an ongoing investigationAs per the WSJ report, the Department of Justice claimed that Monday's raid was carried out to execute a judicially authorized search warrant. The outlet, citing anonymous sources, reported that HSI agents took a PC, notebooks, a cellphone, and Omar's passport during the raid. At the same time, some of Ilhan Omar's relatives have also been subpoenaed by law enforcement authorities to testify before a grand jury, the media outlet reported.Per the BBC, in addition to her citizenship, Omar's financial records have also been under scrutiny. Moreover, many Republicans, including Trump, have often accused the congresswoman of marrying her brother. Recently, following the raid on the Democratic lawmaker's home, Trump denied his involvement during a press gaggle at the White House. However, he continued attacking her during campaign rallies.Meanwhile, Ilhan Omar has denied the allegations against her over the years. Per CBC, the Democratic leadership has strongly condemned the recent raid at Omar's home as politically motivated. Also read: "Make it make sense": Mehdi Hasan reacts after Kid Rock slams Abdul El-Sayed & calls him "a wolf in sheep's clothing"
